For fussiness at the breast, also try breast compressions to help propel the milk out faster http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Oh-nnTps1Ls This works well for very young babies too whilst they still tire easily. By 3 months they'll nurse more efficiently and then most feeds usually lasts only a few minutes (they'll still drink frequently though) smile emoticon

Narelle Dwyer is sensational for feeding advice. I was in the same situation with my kids. Tandem works for awhile but they get a bit sticky beaky & want to look around thus I fed separate in the finish. The toddler could still have a story read whilst doing that. If you are intetested in Narelle 's details let me know.

Robyn Thompson is Australia's best lactation consultant. She is Melb based, Altona but also does Skype consults as well. She is gentle and loving with 40 years exp and has just submitted a PHD on 25 years of data as a consultant hired by Darrebin Council to support new mums. Google breastfeeding consultant and let her know I referred you! Keep going, I fed twins for 2.4 years!

Sue Shaw is a FANTASTIC lactation consultant based in Williamstown (but will travel.) http://www.susanshaw.com.au/contact/ She came to us a couple of times and I was able to (and did) contact/call her on many occasions to get extra help and advice. I h ighly recommend contacting her. I also had a 2 year old when our boys were born and exclusively tandem fed for 7 months and then fed individually (as they got to big and distracted each other!) The boys turned 1 yesterday and I am still feeding twice a day! It's not easy in the first 10-12 weeks, but does get easier! Good luck!
Ladies, can anyone recommend a fabulous lactation consultant in Melbourne who will magically solve my feeding issues? Names and contact details please!!!

Hi Kristy, You can find information on the pathways to be eligible to sit the IBLCE exam here http://iblce.org/certify/pathways/ Some ABA volunteers have used their volunteer role to satisfy the requirement for lactation specific clinical practice, however ABA training and volunteering does not currently satisfy the requirements for health science or lactation specific education. IBLCE may be able to provide you with more information if you contact them through their website.

I saw a great lactation consultant in Wyoming at the Central Coast Womens Community Health Centre. Dr Diane Carroll. She has a few appointments specifically put aside each day she works for breast feeding consults. You get nearly all of the fee back from Medicare.
