Mike, I don't know that that is a current location for Elta. Last I talked with her she wasn't there. I'd contact her to double check. I'd also say her knowledge and skills are worth the drive. Pawsitive Companionship is another awesome trainer and she holds classes in several places in the metro area.

I just remembered a friend in need of a trainer. Mike Burch see above for trainers. Looks like you have nearby possibilities.

Pawsitive Companionship LLC/Ann Marie also holds classes at Southwind Animal Hospital, and I think she has puppy classes at Central Animal Hospital. There is a group that has formed of local force-free, positive trainers--they had an open house at the Humane Society not too long ago, and were at the dog day event at Shelby Farms recently. Whitney from HSMSC is part of that group so she could probably give recos for local trainers.

There are positive methods that are much better than the methods used by pro train. I would recommend either Ann Marie or Elta Woodlife http://www.dogtutoring.com/The_Dog_Tutor/About.html any day. There are very few positive based trainers in the area but Ann Marie and Elta are both great! I would have to look this girl up as I have never heard of her.

No, i don't. I couldn't find any info on her website about her experience, where she trained or any credentials she might have (things I look for first) so I looked on the Association of Professional Dog Trainers website--she has a listing (means she's a member, I think) but isn't certified, which means she hasn't met their requirements (whether it's something she hasn't bothered with, hasn't met their required hours of experience, and/or been evaluated by them, I don't know) She recommends that the dogs be boarded with her for training. That's enough to make me run, not walk, away. Just had a conversation abut that with someone else today. Ann Marie Easton/Pawsitive Companionship has classes in Horn Lake, but that's likely not close enough. I highly recommend Ann Marie.

Check Petsmart or the like. They usually have contacts for things like that. I know the one in Olive Branch has a woman come in every week.

Alan Turner. Can’t recommend him enough. Very positive, operant conditioning training with no shock collar or boarding. Our dog responded immediately. The price was right. We had him come over maybe three times? And our dog is just as well-behaved as friends who have done the $2,500 e-collar training. I think his website is howsbentley.com
