Can anyone recommend a vet for equine dentistry in the Eau Claire/ chippewa/fall creek area? Someone with a lot of experience?
Bridget K. replied:
I really like Lisa Vandeberg of Painted Pony Equine. She's in the Menomonie area but you can see if she'll travel that way.
Jennifer S. replied:
I tried her already and she doesn't come that far:( Horses are at KG Stables in Fall Creek.

In the spring we bring a guy up from near IA who is the best, this last year we set him up at the Bloomer equine vet clinic and trailered in. -- if your not dealing with an acute need WE try to get him here the end of May/beginning of June. Otherwise Lisa Vandeberg did all our teeth care before. You could trailer out to them, then you do not need to pay a trip charge also. Also check Dr. Tiegan at Topline Equine vet clinic in Glenwood -- I do not know if she floats but Id assume so and you could trailer in there.
Lynda M. replied:
Dr. Lisa is the best equine dentist around here, and am pretty sure you can trailer over there to get it done, except would have to wait awhile for the drugs to wear off before you could trailer home. I doubt Dr. Jen would come from Glenwood to Fall Creek, but pretty sure you can trailer there as well, however, same scenario with waiting to trailer home. Dr. Lisa would be closer than Dr. Jen.

Dr Beth Smith out of rock falls vet care is also very experienced and we have her do our teeth at our farm. She travels and she also does haul in!
Anybody have recommendations for where to get animals (dogs) shots done that don't cost an arm and leg ? We are in Baldwin so within reason . Does PeTco or somewhere...
Angela W. replied:
Northwestern Vet in Amery is SUPER reasonable for shots and spay/neuters- worth the drive, for sure.
Carol K. replied:
I have been extremely happy with Dr. Brian Kertsen at Baldwin Veterinary Clinic. In addition to being very reasonable on shots and office visits, I don't think you could find a more caring compassionate vet anywhere than he is. Just over four years ago, right after I moved to Baldwin, I had to have an elderly pet euthanized. I was completely heartbroken. No one could have been kinder or more understanding, more loving and gentle. His entire staff was the same way. Two years ago, I had to have another of my furbabies euthanized. Again, they were wonderful and Dr, Kersten exhibited the most compassionate and professionl care any of my pets have ever received. I would swear by him! I have a very limited, fixed income and it's hard for me to afford any vet fees at all. But I've found their fees reasonable and cheaper than many.

The vet in SV is called Elmwood Vet.
Rebecca K. replied:
Check out the website for Homestead Vet Clinic in Baldwin, they do "free vaccines for life" there are a few catches but I feel like it was a good deal, and will pay for itself by the second vet visit. You have to pay $100 per dog to enroll so it can feel expensive up front but the next time you go in you are basically just paying for the exam $38. It's a real deal if you have a new pet that needs a bunch of booster shots right away and you get a discount on spay/neuter.
Who has microchipped their horse? Have you had the vet do it or did you do it yourself? If you did yourself which one did you buy? I'm looking at netposse's website...
Candice A. replied:
I plan on Microchipping my daughters new baby after its born. Our TB's I have their registration papers and Lip Tatoos. HOWEVER what I would love to see and would be willing to pay for is a Microchipping with GPS capability.
Marie M. replied:
I have been trying to find that as well, but no one is doing it yet. I did read they are allowing race horses to be microchipped over the tattoo. I did purchase some from here today: http://www.microchipidequine.com/ I bought the five pack, but only need three. I read somewhere and will confirm with AQHA tomorrow that they will enter the microchip id into their database as well as on the registrations papers.
