I live in Merrimack. 5 of my kids and I have Lyme Disease, some of the kids recovered with very little permanent damage, some of us, however tipped into Chronic Lyme and we have permanent damage. Our family has years of experience battling Lyme and managing its aftermath. PM if you have questions or want additional information.
Does anybody have any recommendations on a good doctor here in Merrimack or close by? My current dr is in Goffstown and I hate making the ride for a Doctor who is just...
Donna S. replied:
Love Dr Garlin at Merrimack medical center!
Patti S. replied:
I do not go to doctors, but I concur with Dr. Fitzgerald. He was my mother's doctor when she was dying of cancer and he spent hours on the phone to me helping me deal with all that was going on. He was so kind and had the best bedside manner and he knew his stuff. He kept her comfortable up to the end and we couldnt have asked for a better experience with a doctor. Being in the holsitc field it's very rare I hear rave reviews or give rave reviews about a doctor but he definitely IS a rare gem. You can't go wrong with him. Exemplary human being AND doctor.
Laura F. replied:
Dr. Judith McCole is awesome. https://elliothospital.org/website/elliot-family-medicine-at-bedford-village-meet-our-providers.php Last time I checked (in November) they weren't accepting new pateints but that may have changed.
Maggie S. replied:
I love Dr. Kernan at St Joseph on Dw highway. They are moving in between the convinant med and Shaws on Continental Blvd.
Betty D. replied:
I would recommend Dr. Mary Engils at Elliot Family Medicine
Christina M. replied:
I've had great luck with Dr Garlin. Find her responsive, asks detailed questions & gets a broader health perspective, not just drug-focused
Casey E. replied:
I love Dr. Garlin as well. She personally called me with results last week on Christmas Eve and made sure I was happy with our plan. Being a critical care nurse, I'm pretty picky!
Denise P. replied:
Merrimack Family Practice (part of Dartmouth-Hitchcock) 294 Daniel Webster Hwy, Merrimack, NH 03054 (603) 424-4713 Started going to these folks way back when it was located where the Police Station is now. When Dr. Hall retired we started seeing Dr. Archie Dickinson. Very pleased with his knowledge, coordination with specialists and care. Love the fact that this practice is associated with Dartmouth-Hitchcock.
Mary A. replied:
Mine is in Nashua, by the hospital. Dr. John Alexander. He is also a pediatrician. I love him.
Nicole K. replied:
Dr. Nicola Kiernan. She is through St. Joseph's Hospital- their satellite is located in Merrimack. I think they just changed locations to Exit 11 area.

Dianne C. replied:
I take my kids to Wright and Associates.....they are all amazing!!! All NPs......very down to earth, genuine, take plenty of time with you and very patient centered. I would also highly recommend them:)
Linda H. replied:
I go right in town to Dr. Timmerman/Carol Landon ARNP....next to Haircutters. Love them.
Sandra S. replied:
I love Ritu Ullal at Dartmouth Hitchcock in Nashua! She's awesome. And, in North Nashua, so not too far.
Dianne C. replied:
Dr James Fitzgerald at Elliot Family Medicine at Bedford Commons....behind the Bedford Post Office......a rare gem....could not find a better PCP....never rushes you, LISTENS, and actually believes in patient centered care. I have very complex medical conditions and he has been AMAZING throughout my journey. He has been so open to me leading on the care I need for my rare conditions and humble enough to learn from me. I can't say enough about him....he genuinely cares and is a great dr....love him!!!
Dianne C. replied:
Dr. Fitzgerald has been named PCP of the year many times and I have written many letters to the Elliot on his behalf. After dealing with MANY arrogant jerks along my medical journey, you appreciate a rare gem like him. He deserves the recognition that he gets:)
Lung specialist in the area? If anyone has had good or bad experiences with pulmonary doctors in the area, I would love to hear about it in hopes to find someone who can...
Jeannine M. replied:
Dr Eduardo Velez at Pulmonary Associates in Nashua. I have been very happy with him and his staff.
Mary H. replied:
Be sure to check out www.BreatheNH.org, a hundred-year-old lung health nonprofit. We have resources on the website. Can't recommend specific physicians, but we have a couple on the board including one in Nashua.

Lori S. replied:
Is it Dr. Kaupp? I've been waiting to hear about her as well.
Chandler M. replied:
If you want great doctors- not in town, but Dr Kara Kaupp's Husband, Greg Kaupp, runs Medicine Pediatrics on Prospect Street in Nashua. My girls' PCP is Dr Chris Riccio, and he is fantastic. I have a girl with severe allergies, Vaso-vagal syncope, asthma, immuno issues, and another with multiple special needs, also a teenager. We have been with the practice over 10 years, and I was their first homebirth mom, and they allowed me to delegate my needs and were/are very open-minded and supportive with my style of natural parenting. Wonderful doctors, all of them, and also part of Foundation. We have had med flights, PICU stays, and some crazy strange medical issues, and they've been wonderful. Can't recommend the practice enough.
Sandra S. replied:
My only recommendation is in Nashua, but it's north Nashua and very close to Merrimack. We've been super happy with Dr. Denise Youssef at Dartmouth Hitchcock in Nashua. This is after using two other offices that were awful, so we're pretty picky as well. We've seen other doctors at DH peds for urgent things and have liked them as well. Good luck with your search. Finding a doctor you like is a pain.
Paula H. replied:
All my children went she is 23 now, severe asthmatic and two still goes river Rd pediatrics in Bedford .my son as well has asthma
Meagan T. replied:
We go to Dr. Andrea Palumbo in Bedford. Her husband is also a pediatrician out of Windham. We saw him (Dr. Matthew Hajduk) for 8 years before switching to her.
Heidi M. replied:
Bummer. Not a pediatrician but Daniel Rosenbaum is a general practitioner, my kids and I all see him. He's moving the first of the year to Derry Medical in BEDFORD, 160 S River. Phone: 537-1300. I love him. My kids love him. My son was small and before Rosenbaum I was getting 'failure to thrive'; Dr Rosenbaum told me as long as they stay on their OWN growth/weight curve no issue. My kids are never "on the chart". We're slender people and average height, we're not starved, it's genetics!
Kelly N. replied:
Dr Gittleman with St. Joseph family Med next to convenient MD in Merrimack
Nicole K. replied:
Pediatric associates of Bedford has been great for us. They're right on 101 across from the hannaford. We've seen at least 3 of the providers, all wonderful. They also have great extended hours in Manchester for urgent needs.
Tiffany M. replied:
Is your doctor Dr Kaupp in Merrimack? I know she's been out for a few months. We saw her associate a few times. I did like him but I'm going to be very sad if she's permanently gone since my kiddos have seen her since they were babies and she really knows our situation well. I do hope she's ok though.
Bonnie H. replied:
If Dr. Krupp is leaving I'm probably also leaving, this will be my son's 3 rd doctored in 6 years to leave there. I loved her and so sad she's leaving. I have seen Dr.Lero a few times and he's good, it's just really hard to live up to Dr.Kaupp...

We have great luck with the staff at Willowbend in Bedford. They are great and are very attentive. I see Dr.Mattin and my wife sees one of the APRNs. Worth checking out. https://www.catholicmedicalcenter.org/about-us/locations/willowbend-family-practice/default.aspx
Jessica E. replied:
We also go to Dartmouth Hitchcock. We are still at the Manchester location because we love our pediatrician Dr Shessler but we have gone to Nashua and Bedford and like everyone there as well.
Dianne C. replied:
Dr James Fitzgerald at Elliot Family Medicine at Bedford Commons. I have been with him from the beginning of his practice. He is an AMAZING PCP....patient centered....spends a ton of time with you...LISTENS....and TRULY cares. I have a ton of complex medical issues and he has been amazing with getting me anywhere that I needed to go. Can't speak highly enough about him! My kids go to Wright and Associates in Amherst.....all highly qualified NPs who I would describe much like Dr Fitzgerald. Highly recommend them as well:)

Maureen D. replied:
Even tho my insurance has us going somewhere else, I would also suggest Dr. Douville . He is very easy to talk to and very willing to work with you. His secretaries are also very nice.plus he is right here in town.
Martha W. replied:
Dr. Douville. We had him since he started the practice in Merrimack. He is the best.
I had to change my health insurance and my present doctor is not covered. Hit me with your suggestions! I have Lyme so they must believe in chronic Lyme! Thanks! :)
Jessica M. replied:
My PCP and OB look at me like i have 5 heads when i mention that I have chronic lyme. From my research there are no GP that believe in Lyme in this area. You will need a specialist. Dr Durand in Concord (9-12 months wait) or a NP like Julia Greenspan in Amherst.
N L. replied:
I do not have Lyme; but I know there is a local support group. Here is a link to their site (in case you don't already know of it). Perhaps this could be a resource for you. As for Hitchcock - I do have a friend in VT who sees someone at Hitchcock up in Hanover for some of his treatments (as VT law does not allow him to have some of meds for the ongoing time period that he needs for his Lyme). I'm sorry that anyone has to go through this. http://www.lymenet.org/SupportGroups/UnitedStates/NewHampshire/
Craig B. replied:
Greenhouse naturopathic for Lyme ins prob won’t cover it but there great
Lisa S. replied:
As far as I know the 12/20 meeting will still take place. The Greater Manchester Lyme Disease Support Group holds its regular monthly meeting the Third Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm at the Bedford Presbyterian Church. The address is 4 Church Road. Upon entering the church go right and take the elevator to the first floor. We are in the first room on the left upon exiting the elevator. Lyme patients are encouraged to bring along friends and family. We are all about educating not only those that have Lyme but those that don't. The more people know about Lyme, the greater the chances that they can avoid chronic Lyme. Obviously, avoiding ticks and tick bites is the best prevention but knowing how to recognize Lyme and how to treat it if you contract it is the key to knocking out acute Lyme before it becomes chronic. I will pm you something

Siobhan K. replied:
I can't say enough about Wright And associates! They are right next to Salisburg Square on 101. I have never been so impressed and felt so listened too!
Sandra S. replied:
I agree with Dartmouth Hitchcock in Nashua on exit 8. Unfortunately, my PCP just left, and I haven't met my new one face to face yet, so I don't have a specific name. That being said, I've seen various doctors there in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, and urgent care, and have yet to be disappointed. However, I strongly dislike the OB/Gyn dept there and get that care elsewhere.
