Vet recommends...Dr Cesar Duarte669 108 1187, does house calls, Dr Marcos Cardenas982 6727, for anything complicated or life threatening. Ticks can be a problem in the summer, I have been treating my guy with Bravecto so no issues with fleas or ticks

Tractor Supply, TSC, has vet clinics once a month where you can get animals looked at reasonably. Check to see if the one near you or near where you cross the border do the travel documents.

We drove from MA to San Miguel de Allende with our cat. She was great. We got her a really comfy carrier (i.e. Sleepypod) and she barely made a peep. We drove 8 hours daily and she would "hold it" until we got to our hotel. La Quinta let's you have a cat for free. Some places charge a fee. You need to take your cat to a vet right before leaving to get a health certificate and make sure all shots are current.
Lynnette M. replied:
Many hotels OK with one pet in a carrier. The auto hotels (specialty hotel for romantic couples) are supposed tro be very good about accepting pets. I have not stayed in one yet but previous posts saying this were from people who had stayed in these hotels. Once you start looking for the words auto hotel you will notice they are everywhere. My personal experience so far is that buying cat food is not like in the states. Maybe only two brands offered. And the bags are very small. I have yet to find a 20 pound bag of cat food. I recently found Fresh Step cat litter at a WalMart in Tuxtla Gutierrez. Bigger more touristy cities may have a better selection.

Just a head's up. Some border crossings insist there is no need to fill out or turn in the FMM. I tried twice at Piedras Negras and the agent refused to do it.
Feeling kind of stupid here but we decided to drop down to belize and we are finding out we need differant paperwork for dogs. Guess we need check up from vet that is...
