You can always try to fight the government, but it is a hgh barrier to get over. It is a federal government agency, not something cooked up by private insurance companies. FEMA (AKA The Federal Emergency Management Agency) reasses current conditions causing flood maps to be redrawn occasionally. (These are reassessed due to changing conditions such as new building construction, changing topography, weather, and many more factors). You can look up current local maps using this link: https://msc.fema.gov/portal
