Lexington, VA or Lexington, KY? Either way, Johnson Horse Transportation is the very best. Have used them for at least 20 years shipping everywhere! http://www.johnsonhorsetransportation.com
Hello Middleburg! Has anyone used a freight shipping company to move a horse cross country (going to California, in this case) that they loved? More interested in...

I second Johnson Horse Transportation. They are the absolute best and will look after your horse.

I've used Johnson and Brookledge for cross country hauls. Both are very good.
first of all, I wanted to thank those who responded to my boarding request- I found a nice small paddock in haymarket where my whole herd can live happy in retirement!...
Next question: who sells hay with just a touch of alfalfa in it? Want to get a few bales for my shipping-challenged horse to help occupy better when on the trailer. ...
Kathleen V. replied:
I buy the bagged Atlantic Hay alfalfa at Tri County just for that reason. I have the feed bags in my trailer so it works perfectly. But it is cut short so if you use hay nets you'll need a regular bale. Tri County sells really good alfalfa mix from NY.
