Looking for restaurant recommendations for anniversary dinner My SO and I are celebrating our 2 year anniversary at the end of the month and I am looking for restaurant...

Also, you can’t go wrong with a meal at Eleven Madison Park. Top notch meal you’ll never forget.

I can tell you where NOT to go. Celeste on the UWS. Small Italian restaurant that has an absurd owner that is often touchy-feely with female patrons. Walked in there waiting on them to set our table and the guy starts rubbing my wife’s shoulders telling her how great she looks. After getting over being speechless, she literally wtf’d him and we left abruptly. Most insane experience I’ve ever had while dining out.
agpc replied:
Have you actually called these places that are booked or are you using open table / resy? It might help to call the places and tell them it's your anniversary and see if you can pre pay a deposit. Not sure if it will work, but people do cancel reservations all the time even at the hard to get places.

We went to Sushi by Bou at 32 E 32 nd st. Super special and intimate place. Top shelf sushi served in a quaint hotel room. Seating of restaurant max is four.

My partner and I just celebrated our 2 year anniversary last month with the incredible Chef’s Tasting menu at Le Bernardin.

del posto is amazing, and in your price range, and has a captain’s menu where they curate it based on your preferences

I recently went to to Mountain Bird, a French restaurant in East Harlem with my SO. It was very yummy and had a really nice vibe. We did have the tasting menu but it was Valentines day so I'm unsure if they always have one, but the food was delicious! https://www.yelp.com/biz/tastings-social-presents-mountain-bird-new-york-3https://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/02/dining/hungry-city-mountain-bird-in-harlem.html

The tasting menu and ambience at Zenkichi in Williamsburg are amazing. Try the sake pairing: it’s worth it. Privacy is guaranteed because of some authentic touches. I agree re: Celeste. I grew up close by, with an Italian (from Italy) parent. Too inconsistent for a celebration.
hodlsatoshi replied:
Damn! 5-600 for 2 should be able to get you a beautiful dinner anywhere in the city...

Look at "The Eddy" in east village. They do a nice tasting menu and my GF and I go there every year for our anniversary. They always bring us a glass of champagne when we tell them.

Hi there, check out Gabriel Kreuther. 4 course menu is $155 pp. leave you room for some nice wine and or drinks. The space is super beautiful inside and very luxurious.
quiet_face replied:
Le French Diner or Contra are both great special occasion spots without feeling stuffy. The food at both is exceptionally delicious and service at both places is top notch. Le French Diner is definitely more casual feeling. It’s super small and you sit at the counter and watch the chef cook. The staff is so incredible and so knowledgeable about what they’re serving. The wine selection is AMAZING. Its a great intro to the world of natural wines Contra is a set menu. Changes often so I’d check their site or IG. I wanna say it was about 7 course. We did the wine pairing and it was great. Definitely worth adding to make it that much more special. The food is really unique and unlike anything I’ve had. Happy anniversary!!

I went to [Le Coucou](https://ny.eater.com/2018/6/12/17452862/worlds-50-best-restaurants-2018-nyc-51-to-100-le-coucou) a few weeks back. It was insanely delicious, and pretty reasonable by price ($65 entrees, give or take). With a bottle of wine, apps, and a dessert you'd be looking at a great meal, at a famous place, for below your budget.

zorsmobile replied:
Earlier in the thread you mentioned EMP being out of your price range, but they have an excellent bar menu that's for walk ins. I do recommend coming right at opening to guarantee a spot though. Other favorite tasting menus in that price range include Contra, Tempura Matsui, Del Posto, Jungsik, or Kajitsu off the top of my head.
jessicat7474 replied:
Sushi Nakazawa was AMAZING but also hard to get into. Only worth it if you sit at the bar. Mas Farmhouse was terrific, and I’d say Le Bernardin. I think I’m going to take my boyfriend to La Marea for his birthday...heard its terrific and they have openings I believe.

I went to Daniel for my birthday, the tasting menu with wine pairing would probably be within that price range. It was absolutely incredible food and just a lovely atmosphere with lots of great finishing touches. Highly recommend for a special occasion!

If you like sushi, I highly recommend DomoDomo in Soho. Chef's counter, tasting menu, and intimate setting. Everything we tried we loved and got seconds, and it's in the mid range of your budget. If you like Italian American, La Marea in Columbus circle was one of the fancier places I've taken my SO. We got the chef's tasting menu and absolutely loved it. We also had great wine recommendations from a friendly somelier and in the end it all came out on the high end of your budget but was worth it for a most fancy date night.

Something more unique with an intimate setting and a little more interaction would be Cote. A Korean bbq with an amazing wine list and table side service with delicate high end offerings that won’t break the bank. https://www.cotenyc.com

My all-time favorite romantic restaurant, and completely underrated, is Riverpark (no not River Cafe, which I thought was kind of overrated, but Riverpark). It's definitely tucked away, but the food and service have always been incredible.

Babbo is nice and cozy, very romantic. For something a little different: Traif in Brooklyn, pretty sure they have a tasting menu. Excellent service, great food.

* I really love [Marea](https://www.marea-nyc.com/) - it's coastal Italian - but there's no chef's table that I'm aware of. * Gabriel Kreuther (Alsatian food) does have a [table in the kitchen](https://www.gknyc.com/kitchen-table) but I'm not sure about the pricing. * Do you both like sushi and sashimi? An omakase could be fun. It's not particularly traditional, but I loved the omakase at [o ya](https://www.o-ya.restaurant/menus-ny/) Good luck! Happy anniversary!

A few suggestions that I don't see listed already. Trying to think of things a little different: * Taureau - This is a fondue restaurant, they do a three course fondue meal. It's all delicious, and it makes for a fun meal. * EN - This is a high quality Japanese brasserie. They have very creative dishes, and they do sake flights, which is a nice way to try some different sakes. * Plataforma - This one's a Brazilian rodizio-style restaurant. They come around with platters of all sorts of meats (and some fish!), you can eat as much as you want. They also have a great salad bar, good sides, and glorious desserts, but you go for the meats. Bring your appetite! * Catch - Mostly a seafood restaurant, but with sufficient good options for non-seafood as well. (I don't eat seafood, and I had no problem here.) But what you're really going here for is the dessert, specifically the Hit Me cake, which is best described in this droolworthy video: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOKghmAqFgI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOKghmAqFgI) * Craft - This one isn't anything wild or different, but it's just really good food. This is the first place I ever ate quail, and it made me realize I really like quail.

Carbone - it’s delicious. My husband and I go there every year for our anniversary.
Mak3mydae replied:
First place I thought of when you said "different restaurant" is Brooklyn Cider House. It's definitely far off from your $600 price point but I had a really enjoyable time with my boyfriend doing the prix fixe menu where you get to pour your own cider from barrels of cider between courses with a little introduction to each type of cider.

Atomix! The tasting menu and drinks are both fantastic.

My go to spot is Morimoto. Never had a bad meal there.

You should spend $200 on a really nice dinner and then $350 on a nice hotel room. For food, try some excellent Italian at Carbone. For room, stay at The Standard and get the corner king.
BushwickBear replied:
Probably not, but you might be able to squeeze a reservation in at Bohemian. If not, Nakazawa, maybe.

Congrats on the anniversary. If you're looking for a tasting menu I suggest Blue Hill. My wife and I recently went, and every course was amazing. The wine list is pretty good, too. On Friday we went to Wayan for Indonesian/French cuisine. It was so so good. They don't have a tasting menu, but all of the dishes are meant for sharing. We can't wait to go back. Highly recommend!

My wife and I recently celebrated our first anniversary at La Grenouille. We wanted to go somewhere that felt like an experience and worthy of the occasion, and this definitively accomplished that. Would be on the higher end of your budget.
