Bruno Poirier up until this point, the 407 ETR has gotten away with crying poor me... it's too much for us to produce evidence. We will lose money. Yes I am whining while I type that. Now, because of their own behavior, they can't be trusted to be honest anymore and will now have to prove themselves. It's one thing for them to have a legitimate claim on a toll evader, but it's totally another for how they have been "lying in wait", charging whatever they wanted without ever having proved an actual toll occured. This is why, in my opinion, they are in trouble. I am sure they can prove there are legitimate toll evaders, but for the majority of people in this group, the company is in the wrong because of their business practices.

I am delighted for you guys. Gordon Murdie is very well qualified to advise. It appears that your contractor may have been very greedy. From what I can see there are huge built in incentives that reward the contractor and private surveyor when extra works are agreed (so they do not have to be greedy). The contractor then knocks nine bells out of your building. Raking out all the pointing, cutting out window cills etc. So they do carry out the work and they make a lot of money. Even when a good independent surveyor is brought in, they can point to their gruesome handy work. The problem is that a lot of it did not need to be carried out. The system run by the council is akin to a stranger taking your car into a garage and telling the mechanic he has a blank cheque to do what ever he thinks needs done at your cost! The system is insidious and those involved will not normally be caught out by stupidly and blatantly not doing the works.
