Does anyone here know IF we have people in this area who ARE able to help someone in distress about having to pay large amt. of $$ to a vet & can't manage to?
Is there...
Aileen J. replied:
They can look up the Farley Foundation. They help certain situations with large vet bills, but it's looked at on a case by case basis.

Unfortunately pet insurance is great but not if you adopt animals with preexisting conditions they won't even consider you for coverage even if you want coverage excluding that condition. As someone who strictly rescues it's one of the downsides. But i wouldn't change it for the world so even if this family had pet insurance it may not have covered it. The Farley foundation I have only heard wonderful things about. They should get into contact with them or start a gofundme page to help with some of the costs too.:) good luck

There are pet insurance companies that will cover you if you have pre-existing conditions, they generally will not cover pre-existing conditions though. We're with Pets Plus Us. Our pre-existing conditions weren't covered. one of our 2 got extremely ill 6 weeks after our policy came into effect (different illness) and we had no issues with them paying the claims (they've been in the thousands of dollars). They will cover rescue animals, so might be worth while checking into them Tara Bishop. And thanks for only adopting rescues!!!

Any good veterinarians in town?
One that you trust.
Debbie D. replied:
Hi Tony I have been going to Dr Ross Dawson for years. Both my dogs and cats. I also do rescue for 2 groups and have taken many dogs to him. He will not push extra on you, will only do what is necessary, is very caring, kind and thorough. I would not take my animals anywhere else. Plus once you are a client he will give you his cell for emergencies. He's at the Milton Veterinary Hospital on Main St across from Winners
