Anyone have advice on how to shop around for a CSA? How about some recommendations from people who already use one?

http://springdalefarmcsa.org. This is the CSA I've used for years. I'm pretty sure all CSAs have good points as well as bed. I love Springdale.

My wife and I had a share from https://www.facebook.com/456024234463836 Rare Earth Farm for two seasons before we moved out of state. https://www.facebook.com/906451249423258 We really liked what they had to offer. St Clare Garden is Oak Creek is run by a former class mate of mine and offers 4 different CSA sizes depending on your needs.

I LOVE my CSA from Pinehold Gardens. David & Sandy used to sell at the SSFM, but they got too busy at their farm stand. They also have a lot of u-picks, we got honey from their apiary this last year and if you need something special you can drop them a note and they will see if they can get you what you need. http://www.pineholdgardens.com/csa.html

We have used Rare Earth Farm (1 season) and Lotfotl (2 seasons). We much preferred Lotfotl - the selection was better and the quality was higher.

Cermak Fresh Market by the Target on Miller Park Way has great carnitas pork available everyday in their hot case. You can buy it by the pound. Also consider Irene's Catering on Lincoln. They have sliced beef and turkey in gravy by the pound. It's easy to call and they'll have it ready for pick-up. My family has ordered from there quite often.

I know this doesn't answer your question but I thought I'd share. For large pot lucks I take a large Nesco and put in 6 pounds of chicken, about 2 cups of water, and two tablespoons of chicken base (http://www.samsclub.com/sams/tone-s-chicken-base-16-oz-jar/157913.ip?navAction= ). Let it cook for the better part of a day and it shreds very easy. Super cheap, super easy, super tasty option. Maybe try a very smaller amount and see what you think?

Go to Meetup.com, enter the Zip code of the area where you'll be living, create an account (it's free!), pick some interests from the list (or create an interest group), then marvel all the e-mail notices bombarding your in-box regarding interest-group meetings. I'm in hiking, biking, philosophy, etc. groups.
Has anyone ever used a grocery delivery service? Curious on experiences. Thanks.
Barbara R. replied:
I have used Peapod for heavy items and more recently Amazon Prime Delivery...both Amazon and Fresh Thyme....I have had several issues with Fresh Thyme with missing or wrong items but not with Amazon.BUT if the order is screwed up Amazon ill give you a $10-20 credit on your next order. The Amazon Manager at the East Side Fresh Thyme is always very helpful and eager to iron out the problems. Peapod charges alot for delivery plus a tip for the driver. The tip for the Amazon driver can be edited and delivery is free. Shop carefully. Sometimes the same item is offered at different prices and you still have to look for things on sale. Amazon also brings it in and puts i on the kitchen counter.
