Recommendations for a reliable and affordable moving company? I would love to support a local business.

Hungry Man Movers were the WORST moving company we have ever dealt with. They only loaded the truck 1/2 full which left a lot of furniture behind that still needed to be moved. I was told by the owner that the would come back later in the week to finish. Then they wouldn’t answer our calls. Not even to pick up their wardrobe boxes. We had to hire another company to finish the move. Try Coakley.

I was in the moving business for 5 years. The secret I can tell you about the moving business is that the move can be good or bad depending on the crew. You can have the same moving company working two different jobs with two different crews and have a awesome experience or a nightmare. You have a better chance having a better crew at a nationally affiliated van line or a established local moving company over a smaller fly by night company. I'm not endorsing 2 Men and a Truck but I wouldn't say that they're the worst out there. Sometimes is just the luck of the draw. Good luck.

I've had good luck with the crew at Hernia Movers. I've used them twice in the past few years and they were efficienct and quick. I used 2 Men and a Truck once and felt they went into slow gear to milk the clock.

Hernia Movers....that's my vote. I'm familiar with both Hernia and Two Men and a Truck. Hernia is the best option. Get insurance just in case something is damaged. It's worth it, believe me!

It's not like Riverwest is SO far away....what? 6 miles from Bay View? If they come highly recommended by numerous people maybe the extra few bucks is worth it. Personally I've never hired movers but have heard good things about Hernia Movers. Plus their slogan makes me giggle.

I know a local guy, Dave, who has done lots of heavy work for me. He called recently and said he needed work. He would have friends to work with if necessary. He could do it all probably, though. His number is 262-617-3360. I always try to give work to people who need it. $12-15 per hour is probably fair, depending.

Look up Starving Artist Movers in Milwaukee. They're totally weird guys, but very good workers. I had to move a desk a few months ago and called around most of the major movers in Milwaukee, and Starving Artists was the cheapest--only charged me fifty bucks!
