It could be a bunch of things. Does your hip sublux? You may have torn muscle, tendon or hip cartilage. Those are injuries that will take a while to heal. I would put ice on it and don't weight bear. Use crutches or a walker or wheelchair till this is sorted out. If you have pain medicine or muscle relaxers it's a good idea to take those too.
