I know this has been on here before, but maybe I'm hoping for a new answer. We have Comcast for internet and Cable. We have had major issues with rude customer service...

Maria Trujillo Misty Waugh Looked at Clearwire and now it says they partner with Sprint and you can only get it if you have Sprint devices? Lisa Mallory I will look at WAVE broadband. Thanks!

Jessica Fekete Pfalzgraf, in addition to ^^^ comment we live in an area and Wave Cable is our only internet/wireless source and the package I have is $59/month. It's not bad, but when there is a major storm the internet can go out
Karyn L. replied:
I use Verizon Mobile Broadband with a mobile 4G modem for internet. And there is a tower close to me on Old Owen Rd where I live. Fast service.
Jessica P. replied:
Jenn and April no issues with streaming, downloads, or gaming speed with dsl rather than cable broadband? Jenn Conrad will kill me if i mess up his Xbox
Steve M. replied:
I cut the cable on TV completely. We now use antenna only, along with Netflix, hulu plus, etc. I don't pay Dish, DircTV, or Comcast for TV. I do still have Comcast internet because there just isn't a service available at my house that is as fast and/or reliable.
Misty W. replied:
I found this interesting. We are probably gonna quite cable this year get antenna for local channels. We also have roku. Check them out. We have Netflix. I love it. No commercials can watch as many episodes like. Also able get Netflix on our laptop phones gaming consoles. There is a cable u can get to connect your computer to tv and Skype, watch stuff... do check out this website. Check plans att and tmobile for Internet thru ur device. I believe can be used like a router to use Internet on all devices in house. We still have year and half on our phone contract but will be the thinking about trying this: check out how to save, interesting http://jornie.com/es-disconnect/
I'm thinking of changing from Frontier internet service to Dish. Any suggestions? Pro's and Con's? I don't want to sign up and find that it doesn't work as well as DSL...
Jon L. replied:
Dish doesn't actually provide internet service, they'll use a partner like Verizon or Century Link or Frontier, and in fact in Monroe I think it's Frontier. If you can get Xfinity Internet, you can get a $50 a month Internet deal without contract pretty easily and it's MUCH faster than DSL.
Jon L. replied:
And the Dish SAt is $40-$60 a month as well....so I dont know how much it will save you.
Karyn L. replied:
I was thinking of changing my internet service if I could save some money. After reading these posts not sure what to think. I have Verizon Mobile Broadband for $50.00 a month. I can take my computer most places and not need to use others WiFi. Plus I live on Old Owen Rd and have a tower not to far from me. Other than wanting a service more budget friendly...now that I am retired I don't need to have mobile computer any longer. So if I do consider a change...should I bundle with someone. Not sure if that would be cost efficient? I have Direct TV for television service now. The cost for my chosen programming is $115.00 monthly. So much to ponder.
Don B. replied:
Tami, you might also look into this. You would have better cell coverage as well. http://www.ubersignal.com/zboost-zb560 sl-reach-premium-dual-band-signal-booster-kit.html
Jon L. replied:
Yeah, the Dish 2 way "internet" (sorry, I thought you were talking about actual local broadband) is pretty laggy and has some data caps. You'd be looking at these: http://www.dish.com/entertainment/internet-phone/satellite-internet/?WT.svl=advantages
Is there an internet service provider other than Comcast in Monroe? If so, how is the service? Thanks!
Karin C. replied:
I tried Clear Wire. We had problems with spotty service and we live in town. Then had major issues with canceling. I got the runaround and had to get my bank to advocate and stop payments. I don't recommend Clear Wire.
Karyn L. replied:
For internet only...I've used Verizon Mobile Broadband for the past three years. I can take the mobile modem with me and not use WiFi most of the time. I live on Old Owen Rd and have a super connection. The cost is $50.00 a month.
Looking for feedback on Dish internet service. Pros..cons?
Bones D. replied:
Because of our location.. we have found limited options.. Dish, dialup, Comcast... nothing what so ever in the line of DSL. If going with Dish... it appears one needs to be locked into their TV service as well.??? Comcast is about the same... Though now with Comcast's current WA state licensing up for renewal .. the state is now looking for consumer comments because of all the complaints they have received in the past. This will determine IF the state will renew as it now exists.. or require improved rates and services.... ALONG with their mention that it could also bring into the state another competitor. ... thus reducing and/or eliminating their monopolizing price gouging.??? At any rate.. for the time being... we are not locking into anything until the state comes up with their decision. From all the varied negative bulletin board comments we ran across about Dish.. ... IF we have to go with anything it would have to be Comcast.. Some of their intro offerings... $14.99 a month for one year .. (if combined with TV and/or phone) then if with only like TV(or phone).. it jumps to $40 per month... or if with both TV and Phone.. its then $30... and of course all the additional fees etc.. which most likely would jump the bill up by $5-10..??? And.. there is the required addl cost for their Internet Modem for $7 per month... .but lately have noted several used sold at the thrifts for about $5 that most likely would suffice for basic internet. Believe the ones at the thrift are a result of some upgrading to a higher speed modem.??? For now we are fundamentally stuck with dialup... which we recently switched to PeoplePC and paid a year to get the flat $8.30 a month. The service includes what they refer to as 7X high speed Dialup.. which is nothing more than their providing a program that maintains a cache of what ever pages one goes to on a regular basis.. thus it holds onto that data for quicker reloading. And supposedly... the ability of the user to turn off that feature. But even with that feature active.. the speed isn't increased at all when it comes to secure data like banking ... or downloading images, or pdf's etc. That stays at the snails crawl. They sent the CD to load that program.. or it can be downloaded online.... for now... since the actual dialup is totally functional without it.. we chose not to add their program to the mix... at least until we learn more about its privacy restrictions. Last thing now days is to intentionally load something that could possibly affect our banking accounts or online purchases. Hope this helps

Bad!!!! I switched to direct tv. Customer service is awful with dish and they're rude.
I'm tired of Comcast service and I'm considering a dish. Any suggestions? Is there a good high speed internet service up Old Owen Road outside of Comcast?
