Another option is Buddy at Mobile Mechanics. He's a little out of the way on West Colfax, but he's AWESOME! In the last two years he has saved me hundreds of dollars by fixing things for free and having spectacular prices. He doesn't work on anything other than Subarus, and he knows them all like the back of his hand. If you know what you need done, he'll usually give you an estimate over the phone. 303-279-9433

Bobby's Pit Stop, near Toys R Us if you know where that is, not too far from Dominican Hospital. Also, if you have a Honda/Mazda/Toyota/Acura, I can also highly recommend Rusty's, but he only works on those brands due to the cost of certifying his mechanics for each brand. He's close to downtown Santa Cruz.

C&C Repair Monterey. Solid reviews from the Porsche guys, but they specialize in BMW/Audi/MB/Porsche, so you should be good. Avoid the dealership, as I'm sure you're aware.
