Joe's Italian in Alabaster or Bertolone's in Clanton for delicious, authentic Italian food and amazing desserts. Both owned by the same Italian family.
Mark S. replied:
Like already said Brierfield Cafe is great so is El Agave. We live her in Montevallo. We were disappointed the last two times we ate at Main Street Tavern. The steaks were terrible. They were suppose to be ribeye but they were very thin tasteless pieces of meat. Now the burgers are great. In my humble opinion they were always consistently good before they moved. Maybe we just had a couple of bad experiences.
Joe S. replied:
Huddle House is pretty good!
Krista B. replied:
Lucky's deli is pretty good. El Agave in town is good. Tin top bbq on 31. In alabaster you have jim n Nick's, Full Moon Bbq, O'Charleys, longhorns, olive garden, del toros, panda house and several more. If you Google restaraunts near me you will come up with a lot. Happy eating and welcome to montevallo
Brian W. replied:
If you like Chinese Panda House in Alabaster is great. Joe's Italian for Italian in Alabaster. And Zapopan's for Mexican (locations in Montevallo and Calera).
Holly J. replied:
If you are looking for places outside of Montevallo...Lazy Boy BBQ (Alabaster), Chubbfathers (burgers, Alabaster), Cafe Trentuno (Italian, Pelham), Joe's Italian (Pelham), Kountry Kitchen (southern food, Clanton), Tin Top BBQ (Calera), Magic Wok (Chinese, Calera), Panda House (Chinese, Alabaster), and Brierfield Cafe.

Farmhouse Cafe in Thorsby has great home cooking.

Mitzu Japanese steak house is great at the colonade
Andrea C. replied:
Not a lot of good foods in downtown Montevallo, sad to say.:( El Agave is ok, but we desperately need healthier, lighter fare than what is offered in town (ie, not overpriced, covered in grease, or in a place where they routinely smoke cigarettes inside). I'd say Eclipse Coffee but they closed this past summer.
Vicki L. replied:
I think everyone has pretty much covered all the places to eat. I know several people have mentioned El Agave but I don't care for it at all. I've tried it twice & didn't like it either time. Plus it's small & usually very hot in there. Just not my fav. Zapopan is better in my opinion. But you should decide for yourself.
Just went to the BP to grab BBQ sandwiches for lunch, only to be told by the owner that the Golden Rule Express has bankrupted, and won’t be coming back. In better news, we ate lunch at Cajun Boyz in Pelham on Thursday, and it was great! Nice place, good food and really clean. They offer a decent selection of locally produced craft beers, too. Also had hurricanes on the drink menu. If they could be convinced to open a place in Montevallo they would be a good addition to the entertainment district that many are hoping to see happen. Especially if they could get a good Cajun band on the weekends.
Blair F. replied:
Welcome! I'm from GA too!!! Other than what anyone else has listed, there are a few places in Calera also. Magic Wok for Chinese, cracker barrell, and Red Zone grill!
Besides China Garden, where is a good Chinese restaurant relatively close by? I don't want to drive to Hoover :)
Sietske S. replied:
I loved getting lunch from Lucky China in Helena, when I lived in Maylene. Used to get lunch from Bamboo Garden in Alabaster too (they're next to the Domino's). Their egg foo young is lovely, lots of fresh vegetables. A little salty, but that could possibly be resolved if you asked:-)

Jake B. replied:
Magic Wok in Calera and Hibachi Sushi Bar and Buffet in Alabaster are my favorite spots in the area. It's tough for me to even walk through the doors at the place here in town.
Lee W. replied:
Lucky China in Helena is impressive. But I have had good experiences with China Garden. Really nice people and I like their food.
Don B. replied:
Panda House in Alabaster is the best one around!!!!
Haven't done this before, but we need someone to do the Cafe Escape devotional tomorrow. Five minutes is what we're looking for. Message me or get in touch with me,...
