When you download the app, there's a "estimate" option. so you enter your pick up location and your destination. instead of choosing the request, you click "estimate". Honestly, i've been using UBER about twice a month and have had NO problems. The drivers are really nice and friendly. Price wise, it's about half the cost of a taxi. Also, uber has a referral program where when you use a friends link, you get 15$ towards your first ride and your friend gets it too. so here's my link! https://www.uber.com/invite/uberCoachAmelie
