Gavilan Kennel Club is the best. Best price, best trainers for all levels. I have taken my dogs there since 1986 when we first moved to Gilroy. My dogs are long gone now (died of old age) but if I had another I would go to GKC lessons. http://gavilankc.org/training.html

What kind of a dog do you have? Find a trainer that works with your breed, they will have the best information possible. I have two german shepherds, one is 7 years old the other is 4 years old and I interviewed several trainers 7 years ago and went with Brent Cooper with Cooperhaus K9 and could not be happier. www.Cooperhaus-K9.com

They have ongoing weekend group class for training even after your own individual training is done however it's mostly in San Jose area. Inquire for price quotes as depends on what you need.

A win-win situation for your dog, for you, for our military veterans, and for the rescue dogs that become service dogs. Good you are looking for a behavior trainer. In the meantime create an environment of abundance. If your dog is fighting over a specific item go and buy multiple versions so there are plenty to share. Scolding the dog rarely works, but not showing interest in their item while distracting them with some other activity helps. G’luck and let us who you choose and how it goes.

When you’re looking for a trainer, I encourage you to seek out one who has pursued independent certification as a trainer. CPDT-KA and CPDT-KSA are the most common and they’re a great place to start. https://www.ccpdt.org/dog-owners/how-to-choose-a-dog-trainer/ Consider reaching out to Fetch Sam. It’s an agility training facility downtown. All of their trainers also do behavioral assessments and can help you find a path forward with your dog without resorting to punitive measures, fear, or pain. Resource guarding is totally fixable!

EDUCATE YOURSELF!! Check out r/dogtraining!!! When you get there, click on About. Scroll down a bit and click on Dominance Dominance is a big thing for dogs and so people commonly need to think about it. This discussion will educate you about how to approach dominance. It is good to know how your dog thinks so you can (hopefully) know why it is doing something and out-think it. Why not also go to r/husky and ask people who have dealt with this behavior specifically from Huskies - I understand they are not like “regular” dogs! Thank you for taking the time and workings to make your dog the best doggie it can be.
