Had a beloved dog killed by a vet in Morton, had another beloved dog on wrong food for a year after surgery by a vet that was in Morton and is now in Pekin. Love our current vet PJ Klopfenstein and groomer Jill, both at Tender Care Animal Hospital in Morton. These pets are family and you need to go where they care.
Dawn E. replied:
We take our girls to PJ Klopfenstein too... he's great! I used to take them to Gucci Pucci in the Heights and they are very good, but we have switched to the Wiggle Wagon. It's a little more but she comes to your home and has both of them done in an hour!
Robert P. replied:
Highly recommend Morton Tender Care, on Courtland. Been taking our animals to them for years, and they are wonderful. They also have a great groomer, but you have to call and reserve a spot.

April H. replied:
Dr. Herm has been in the same office for probably 20+ years, and his office is DEFINITELY nothing fancy...so you're not paying inflated prices to pay for the upkeep of an expensive, fancy office. He is very good, and won't do all sorts of expensive tests unless he feels they're absolutely necessary.

Can ANYONE WHO HAS ALREADY HAD THEIR CAT DECLAWED Recommend at vet who does it at an affordable place? I know some people don't believe in it and we already feel bad so...
Julie M. replied:
Dr. Newcomb did Zelda when she worked at Tender Care. Now she owns Rescued Heart. It is barbaric and people on the internet post a lot of stuff about it. The Vet told me as I was bawling about it that she is better off declawed in a loving home than in a shelter or on the streets like so many are.
Jodi R. replied:
Laurel Kaiser is my nanny and she is asking because I asked her to make calls for a vet to get our cat's front paws declawed, along with regular health care maintenance. I am well aware of the risks of declawing, have reviewed biased along with unbiased information and videos on the process. I am an RN and have done my homework on the procedure as I would with any procedure whether it's our pet or one of our family members. We have weighed the risks and benefits of having this done. I too have had reservations about getting Baby Kitty declawed, but it is something that must be done. We want to keep her as a family member and the only way to do this is to get her front paws declawed. We have a toddler that gets new scratches every day from the cat while they play together. We also have roughly $2,000 in new leather furniture that holds sentimental value and the cat is destroying it. That's unacceptable. My daughter Ruby and I have grown very attached the cat, and while my husband and other daughter aren't huge fans of her, this is a solution that keeps everyone happy. I appreciate everyone's input, judgmental and supportive, but this is our cat, in our home and we will care for her as we see fit.
Michelle Z. replied:
If you absolutely must do this, I recommend Rescued Hearts. Dr Newcomb is amazing and very caring.

If it is just for shots or micro chipping, I would recommend http://www.justanimals.org/petwellnessclinic.html . They go to various tractor supply stores in Washington, Pekin & Peoria at least once a month and are very very reasonable. Check out website for prices and times.

Cats like to drink from flowing water. (More natural, also for their vision they can see moving water much better than they can a stagnant surface, aka the water in a typical water bowl.)
