Hi All, returning to the UK soon with my dog. He has a Pet Passport, apparently he has to be wormed at least 5 days before going home. Has anyone else had to do this...

Yes it's definitely necessary they will check at the French Border before you go through the tunnel/ferry and they give you a piece of paper to say all done. Veto vets in Taninges do it and also Morzine. Costs about €35.
Judith B. replied:
I think you need to read the following information from Defra. the reason it is not done on the way from UK to France is because the UK does not have rabies but the continent still has it ( albeit rare) , therefore the Uk is protecting its own borders i.e. they do not mind about a pet leaving the UK but they do have strict controls on anything entering the Uk. https://www.gov.uk/take-pet-abroad/pet-passport

The Montriond vet is great - it opens at 10 am (actually best check inter-season times). Be sure to get there 10 mins before it opens and ul be in and out super quick. She has the passport stuff down to a fine art! If we leave on a Saturday we get it done on a Thursday.
Kelly T. replied:
The treatment must have been given no less than 24 hours and no more than 120 hours (5 days) before you enter the UK. https://www.gov.uk/take-pet-abroad/tapeworm-treatment-dogs

The Montriond vet charged us about €45 for our spaniel and there was a queue of Brits out the door all waiting! But you 100% absolutely have to get it done within stated timeframe - some Polish people were denied passage next to us at Eurotunnel coz they hadn't bothered!

The lady (forget her name) at Family vet - her husband is also a vet in Le Joire maybe he could give you a second opinion?
Hi Morziners, heading over with my pooch this winter, knowing french vets as I do please let me know who's the best vet in the area? Thanks x
Dawn W. replied:
Been with Veto Family vets in Taninges for a couple of years always good
Lisa J. replied:
Had really good experiences with both Veto family and Montriond, although for some reason I agree with Jo Murphy-Ashman and tend to favour Taninges. Had our dog put down in Montriond and they were beyond kind.
Jack S. replied:
Endorse Veto Family completely. As to the French Vets? We have 2 Siberian Huskies treated by French and Spanish Vets, comparison, well the weather is a LOT better in France and Spain
Anyone know a veterinarian that speaks decent english around Morzine?
Kathryn L. replied:
Montriond vet, but some think is a little brusque. Its just a walk in service from 10.30 or from 2. Mental busy right now. Or book with veto family in taninges she is very nice
Ray P. replied:
