Hi everyone! Can anyone advise me on any charities that accept clothing donations? We have several bags full of clothes - mainly menswear (t-shirts, blazers, sweaters,...
The Salvation Army are always in need of men's clothes as is the local Catholic church. If you are still seeking a home for these donations, email me at hughkmc@gmail.com and will set it up

We have purchased something from yoox.com that we had to send back by post (not courier service) and it took us over 30 days to get it delivered to Bologna. Pretty long :(
Any recommendations on used books and second-hand clothing stores in Moscow?
seven_ate_nein replied:
I have no first-hand info about second-hand clothing stores, sorry, good luck looking for them :)
As for the stores selling used books, several years ago we had a lot of them, but now they are closing one after another.
* The biggest store of used books in Moscow to my knowledge is situated at **20 Arbat St**. They have a huge section of books for 50 roubles each. They also sell used books in English and other languages right in the middle of this section. The store opens at 11 am and closes at 9 pm. Several book vendors are working outside, they used to stand at the end of the street closer to Smolenskaya metro station, but now they moved somewhere closer to the store. Anyway, I recommend walking along the whole Arbat to find them.
* Lubyanskaya Square is another place where you can find some used books. Street vendors gather closer to the entrance to Biblio-Globus bookstore, **6/3 Myasnitskaya St., building 1**. There is a section of antiquarian books at the Biblio-Globus itself, but I recommend visiting the bookstore next door, they have lots of used books of various genres.
* Writers' Bookstore (Knizhnaya Lavka Pisateley), **18/7 Kuznetsky Most St., building 1**. They only have books in Russian AFAIK, but the section of antiquarian books is astonishing. It is not far from Lubyanskaya Sq. [Website](http://lavka-pisateley.msk.ru/)
* Universum, **16/5 Malaya Nikitskaya St.**. This is an antiquarian shop, but they also have a small collection of used books in various European languages.
* ~~Moscow House of Books~~ (Dom Knigi), **8 Novy Arbat**. This is the central store of the biggest bookstore chain in the city. It used to have a 'Used' section, but it is now closed. They still sell antiquarian books, however.
* ~~House of Books at Sretenka~~ (Dom Knigi na Sretenke), **9 Sretenka St**. The collection of used books from the previous store is now kept here, you can see the books through the windows, but the doors are always locked, there is no-one to be seen inside. It might open one day, keep checking [the map on the chain's website](http://mdk-arbat.ru/maps) if it pops up.
Of course, there are smaller bookstores. In Russian a store of this type is called букинистический магазин or simply *Букинист* (pronounced boo-key-NEEST). *Книги* (books) is another common store name, pronounced as KHNEE-gee (gee as in *geek*). ^Edit:formatting
Do you know cheap and reliable moving companies to send personal belongings to Spain? I am leaving Russia and have to send clothing, books, etc. I know someone posted...
Clothing alterations, any recommendations? Just need to get some jeans taken up. Language won't be an issue as I think I can easily demonstrate what needs to happen!...
