hi there, we're planning a trip to Australia (Sydney, Melbourne, possibly gold coast) and wife is coeliac and gets severe reactions to even traces of gluten (ill for 2-3...
Hi Tom, Here in Brisbane we have a great selection of GF restaurants. Redcliffe is a suburb that has a wide selection. The theme parks do not offer anything nice in the way of GF. So take your own food. Here's my suggestion for a stress free culinary experience. Stay at the Scarborough Caravan Park in cute brightly painted cabins by the water. Walk next door to the beachside cafe and enjoy the best GF eggs benedict for breakkie. Then visit Valeri art cafe for a coffee and GF slice/biscuit. Then lunch at Feelz Good cafe at Woody Point and finish with a multitude of choice at Dannys restuarant at Scarborough. You won't spend your precious holiday hunting for food variety. Have a nice trip.
I am going to Australia in October visiting mainly Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra and places on route please can anyone recommend supermarkets or restaurants that deal...

Coles and Woolworths supermarkets, the biggest ones in Australia, both have a good range of gluten free food, just need to find the health food section in the store. IGA (smaller supermarket chain) also offer options. Check out Australia's Coeliac society at www.coeliac.org.au for list of restaurants by location. Lots of small health food stores and fresh fruit/veg stores carry gluten free options. Muffin Break stores in all major shopping centres have gluten free options. You'll be fine!
