Last time I needed pads I used Brian's Brakes \- [https://www.facebook.com/Briansbrakes/](https://www.facebook.com/Briansbrakes/) \- he comes to you (he actually came to Decatur during the mess after Hurricane Irma last September). Depending on where you are in the metro, he may charge a travel fee \- even with that, he was still less expensive than a shop.

I use YourMechanic.com. They come to you and their rates are way better. I have a Lexus RX and just had mine replaced last week and it was $100 cheaper with YourMechanic. IF you want to use the service and wanna use my referral code, I’d be appreciative. If not, that’s ok too! Give them a try though!!

If you're near Sandy Springs, A-Town Automotive will let you supply your own parts. I've had them replace OEM parts on my Z and brought in my own oil and filter for my BMW.

Changing brake pads isn't hard. Any of the autopart stores will let you borrow tools and YouTube has tons of videos.
GotMyOrangeCrush replied:
LexTechs is the best place for your Lexus. Restaurants don't let you bring your own food and most reputable auto repair shops won't trust a customer-supplied item. First of all, the shops make profit on the parts, they add markup to the parts cost. Next they cannot trust that the customer supplied the correct part or a good-quality part...thus they cannot put their reputation on the line based on a part they do not supply themselves. So if the car has squeaky brakes and you take it back, and it's not the same brand of brake pads the shop uses, they will blame the pads and may or may not be right.

Ja das wussten wir allerdings schon als wir das Auto gekauft haben. Wir wissen erstens nicht ob nur der belt reicht. Und zweitens haben wir die Hoffnung dass es doch irgendwie etwas günstiger geht

So, not that long ago I was in a similar situation. I found a website online called www.yourmechanic.com - they don't fix everything but there is a chance that the problem with you car is something they fix. Anyway, long story short, they are super reasonable. They come out to you and fix it at your home or business - you can ever provide them your parts to make it cheaper. I would check them out.

Somebody just swore by yourmechanic.com just the other day. Apparently usually filled with retired mechanics who charge their own price and come to you. Cheaper than a tow to the shop on top of work. Can't vouch for them but worth looking into.
justanothergearhead replied:
Honestly, a good mechanic that is cheap doesn’t exist. Good news is that it’s probably a u-joint or carrier bearing which are both relatively inexpensive. Maybe 2-300 for labor and all.

$2 k plus depending on parts. Some mobile mechanic sites service commercial vehicles, such as yourmechanic.com for way less that a shop. Some Napa stores will be able to order parts if you want to go DIY. You'll need a partner unless your beefcake. Some of the components heavy as hell.
