Have you looked at staying in the area on this page. https://www.scamptrailers.com/ask-scamp/links.html I drove straight through to get there and then camped at Lake Itasca the first night. See june 16 on my page for that story.

We stayed at the Days Inn in Brainerd. It was pretty cheap and had free breakfast! And there is a restaurant nearby called Ernie's on the Gull on the water and it was great atmosphere and food! There's also a really fun place to play mini golf and ride go karts near there!

We stayed here both times we were in Backus. Only about 10 minutes away. Clean rooms, nice hotel and staff and good free breakfast. https://www.americinn.com/hotels/mn/pequotlakes
Can anyone recommend a hotel in mackinaw city? There are several but I've never stayed in any of them...
Cassie L. replied:
The Lighthouse View is privately owned and nice, my dad's cousin owns it. If you want a chain the Super8, the holiday Inn Express, Days Inn, are all nice

We stated at clearwater lakeshore motel during our trike tour Amazing view, Clean, dated, $53 (travelocity) http://www.mackinawcityclearwater.com/
we got our date to get our scamp!! We head up in the next few weeks. Looking at hotels within 90 minutes south (coming from Missouri). Any recommendations?
Not sure...

We stayed at the Nisswa Motel in Nisswa, MN, about 25 miles south of the Scamp factory. It doesn't look like much and the decor was mediocre at best... but it was super clean (most important) and reasonably priced. If I was to do the trip again, I would use the same motel. http://www.nisswamotel.com/
Can you tell me a reasonably priced hotel near Scamp headquarters that you stayed in when picking up your trailer? I'm looking for clean, internet access, and good beds.
Gene M. replied:
http://www.ruttgerspinemountain.com/ This place has cabins and after you pick up your Scamp you can stay over a night to do a check out camp to make sure everything is ok.
On the way back from getting our scamp (in a couple weeks) - we are thinking we will stop in the south Minneapolis area. We will have driven from backus and have 8+...
Brian L. replied:
Not too cold at all! Grand Casino Hinkley to dry camp at the full service RV park. Shuttle bus to the restaurants every twenty minutes. Electric heater keeps the Scamp cozy.

I'm not sure how close to Minneapolis you are thinking. The southern suburbs of Minneapolis (along the 494 corridor) are filled with hotels due to the proximity of the MSP International Airport and the Mall of America. Your 'view" may be interstate and parking lots, sorry to say. 90 minutes south of the Twin Cities is Rochester (my home town) which also has a lot of hotels for all of our guests visiting the Mayo Clinic. There will be familiar name brand hotels in both areas, so it would be hard to recommend one over another.
