Amway, the old side with the giant state rooms with the marble and stuff. it's totally awesome and historic. I recommend the Florida Suite. Although if you're just looking for a room with a comfortable bed for fornication and silenced walls so the neighbors don't heat you, the JW would be fine or the new side of the Amway

After staying at the away for years then staying at the jw I will no longer book a room at the amway. I will however go eat there over the jw

my wife and i have stayed at City Flats over Valentines Day, and if your into a boutique type hotel, id suggest there. real close to everything downtown, but so are Amway and JW

No promises, but when we booked the Amway for our wedding and showed up to check in still in our tux/dress, they upgraded us to a 29 th floor corner suite (the Oklahoma room?) at no additional charge. Totally classy, unexpected move. You might think about giving them a chance.

Have stayed in both Amway and JW, found the JW to be more contemporary, with a younger feel to it. If that's what you're looking for, go JW. If you're looking for a more classic feel, consider Amway. Should note that in both instances I was in a suite-- both had bedroom with a separate sitting room, so I feel like I had a pretty even comparison between the two. Both rooms were nice, much nicer than any "normal" hotel. Will say that the bathroom in the suite in the JW blew the Amway bathroom out of the water.

I had ours on the old side of the Amway Grand. But I did do the JW one night as well for Valentines day as well. Both are very nice but I loved the older Amway Grand for the wedding night memories!

Amway is really nice. My wife and I ran into Kurt Russell there a couple years back. He probably won't be there when you go, and I don't think it has any affect on your choice at all, but kinda neat to run into him.

Airbnb. Found a place within walking distance of the main strip and only $100 a night. Had your own room, shower, microwave, refrig. The owner was very informative

When we go, we always stay on the Leelanau Penninsula. It's 10-15 minutes North of Traverse City, and has the best vineyards of the area. There are no chain hotels, only B&B's and inns. All of my recommendations are for places Leelanau. If you're dead set on staying in Traverse City proper. * [The Inn at Chateau Grand Traverse](http://cgtwines.com/the-inn/) - On what I believe to be the areas most beautiful grounds. The wine there is so-so, but it puts you at the heart of and in the middle of some of the best views on Leelanau. Rooms are typical to chain hotel rooms. * [Tesoro Inn](http://tesoroinn.com/suites.php) - Again on Leelanau Peninsula. Newer, and more contemporary accommodations. * [Old Mission Inn](http://www.oldmissioninn.com/) - We have actually never stayed here ourselves, but friends have. It's quaint, rustic, and cozy.
