On the National Register of Historic Buildings, this home at 1109 Elgin Avenue, was built in 1922 by Miss Alice Robertson, daughter and granddaughter of early Presbyterian missionaries to Indian Territory. Miss Robertson founded Minerva Home, a Five Civilized Tribes boarding school, which later became Henry Kendall College, and eventually Tulsa University. She was the first postmistress of a first class post office, serving in Muskogee eight years. In 1920, Miss Robertson became the second woman ever to be elected to the United States Congress.
