Van Houts was on the corner of Winneconne and Harrison St

We lived on oak and division st. and would go to Pete Harders for lunch meat out of the butcher window and all sorts of penny candy. Reminded me of the store on Little House in the Prairie.

Van Houts, and you had to go up a flight up stairs to the store.

Mary Schmitzer, besides Laflin's there was a Skelly station across the street also. I wrote a post about calling the operator too report a fire at that station and heard the trucks already responding in the background of the operator.
