Hi Everyone,
My family and I just moved to Greenbelt from Connecticut with our three young children. I am looking for recommendations for pediatricians in the area. Who...
Carolyn H. replied:
I love Dr Mezgebe Haile on Hanover Parkway.
Christine D. replied:
We go to Silver Spring Pediatrics. It's a great practice with lovely doctors. (It's in White Oak, not in Silver Spring itself, and I can reliably be there in 20 minutes from Greenbelt whatever the traffic.) www.silverspringpeds.com
Rebecca C. replied:
Rebecca Bowler Tobin I mean Children's Pediatrics across from Beltway Plaza, sorry. I'll fix my comment to reflect that. It's great if others have had good experiences there-- I just wish I could say the same. This is the practice we go to which has offices in Laurel, Bowie, and Silver Spring, and I think they're outstanding... Dr. Brown helped my eldest son through a pretty scary crisis moment with his health. Having lived in PG County all my life, the somewhat depressing decision-making process I have heard people use is that doctors that only practice in PG County are below par, but those in PG who also have offices elsewhere are better. I love PG but I have often found this to be the case myself. http://www.primarypedsmd.com/

Primary Pediactrics in Laurel--Dr. Gadsby
Beverly L. replied:
We also love Patient First in Laurel. Always a good experience for after hour issues i.e. ear infections
Rebecca T. replied:
wow, so many recs, thank you! lots to look into. For those who go to primary pediatrics and silver spring pediatrics Rebecca Coleman Christine Doran), I see that the doctors only have hospital privileges at Holy Cross? Has this been a concern to you, that they don't see patients at Doctors Hospital?
Sabine H. replied:
Silver Spring Adolescent and Pediatric care. Dr. Feldman is the best.
Diane F. replied:
Hmmm...Hospitals are another issue altogether. I have not been to Doctors in quite some time because I found the care substandard. They have, over the years, spiffied the place up but from brief experiences with friends in the ER, I'm still not impressed. I prefer Washington Adventist. However, in most emergencies, I will go to Holy Cross. It is a more suburban hospital and as such it is quieter and quicker, usually, in the ER, but care is good at both. The one hospital I will never set foot in again is Laurel. I am not the only one. See the Google reviews. (Oh, and I see from those same reviews that I'm not the only who is not fond of Doctors.) If you need shock-trauma, Prince Georges is great; otherwise, avoid that hospital as well.
Rebecca C. replied:
I consider Holy Cross to be the best hospital in the area besides AAMC so that isn't an issue for me. I honestly wouldn't go to Doctors or Bowie Health Center unless the alternative was bleeding out on the sidewalk.
Rachel D. replied:
We have one 10-month-old girl and take her to Dr. Angela Hubbard (and Danita Tucker-Powell) in Greenway Center. They are both wonderful docs, however be forewarned, they pretty much never run on time. Welcome!
Rebecca T. replied:
Rebecca Coleman do you mean Children's Pediatrics across from the GB mall or Dr Haile in Greenway ctr? Thanks!
Carrie H. replied:
We just left Greenbelt but we liked Dr Tucker Powell in Greenbelt.
Julie W. replied:
I like this one; my son's been seeing him for nearly all his 13 years: Mezgebe Haile, 7525 Greenway Center Dr., Suite T5, Greenbelt, MD 20770; (301) 345-1400
Rebecca T. replied:
Thanks all! I will look into all of these. Joe- thanks for the welcome! We've had some amazing drives through Litchfield Co. We were in New Haven.
Diane F. replied:
Welcome to Greenbelt! It's a great place to raise kids. And I normally don't like to stray far but I have to recommend Dr. Cliff! Dr. Cliff Galanis 12200 Annapolis Rd, Glenn Dale, MD 20769 (301) 218-3700. He's about 15-20 minutes down Greenbelt Road but so worth driving an extra 10 minutes. We just recently had a discussion on here about urgent cares. If you scroll down, you might find it. I like Patient First in Laurel but others disagreed and liked some that were closer. I haven't tried those so I will acquiesce to the crowd on that one. But I will not on Dr. Cliff. I have tried several in Greenbelt, some of them recommended by others here and I still prefer Cliff Galanis. And so does my youngest, now 14 and 5'9". He's already wondering how long he can get away with going to Dr. Cliff.
Christine D. replied:
Rebecca Bowler Tobin, you might like to join the Greenbelt Mamas and Papas listserv and go to the playground meetups (Wednesdays lunchtime at the playground opposite the library). Here's the facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/GreenbeltMamasAndPapas It's how I connected with all the local mamas (and papas) when I moved here first.
Rebecca C. replied:
FYI, Anne Arundel Medical Center has a dedicated pediatric ER as well. When I lived in Greenbelt I never spent any time in Annapolis at all and thought of it as far away, and now that I live in Bowie I am there all the time. If there is traffic backup on the Beltway, it may be faster to go to AAMC up Route 50 than it is to get to Holy Cross. Just something to keep in mind.
