Hey guys! I need a (cheap) gym. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any cheap places to work out that are close to the quarter. My usual deal is to find the closest...

504 fitness in the falstaff building. Cheap, lots of friendly guys who are power lifters (by lots I mean like 15-20, enough to necessitate multiple squat racks but not enough to make you wait 20 minutes for one to open up). Edit: as for those suggesting planet fitness, remember: And thus Brodin said unto the prophet, Arnold, "forgive them, for they know not the way of swole." Creatinus 10:24
Downtown Fitness in the Hippy Center is s great deal. No big contract, month to month and pretty cheap.
foolshearme replied:
planet fitness there are a few in town and they cost 10 bucks a month

If you only want weight machines and cardio equipment check out Planet Fitness on Labarre Rd. its only 10.88/month, very clean, and open 24/7. it fits my needs!

YouFit is like $10 a month.
Charli3q replied:
It's mid city and I know you want squat racks. http://bodydoctorsgym.com/ I think its $45 a month.

Treme Center is free I believe, Anytime Fitness wasn't too expensive, and the new Sanchez Center in the lower 9 th (not too far from quarter if you come up chartres) is really really nice
MayemMonkey replied:
TU is expensive but have you seen the Reilly Center? It's one of the nicest gyms I've been in. I'm not sure what other schools you've used before but the TU facility is worth it if you need a gym.
gym recommendations? what's y'alls fave gym? Plus. Points if I can go there and all the guys don't start 'coaching' you and leave you be

504 fitness http://www.neworleansfitnesscenter.com/ it is small but has everything u need a ton of free wts cardo and wt machines and you can do your own thing. Also, it is not a chain locally owned huge plus

I don't post much on reddit, but I second 504 fitness. I moved here 8 months ago and tried several gyms. 504 has the most free weight equipment. Everyone there is there to work. Anyone will help/spot if you ask, otherwise they let you do your thing. My wife was a little intimidated at first, but now she loves it. I can't say enough about how awesome that gym is.
WhereIsMyCoozie replied:
Franco's, expensive, but rarely crowded.

What's the monthly here? I have a discounted ochsner fitness membership and like it but this is way closer to my house.

We're at the Parks on Robert E Lee. Price for first person was like $40 but each additional person (i.e. my wife) was like $25. Cardio theater is nice, they've usually got good films playing. No one bugs you unless you want them to. And the GM David is a super nice guy.

Home. I find that having to go somewhere to work out means I rarely do it. I bought one set of [these](https://www.amazon.com/Power-Block-EL-ST2-70-MaParent-PowerBlock-Dumbbells/dp/B00G7RHGNY?th=1), which are enough for most strength training. Running and biking take care of cardio. Not having to pay a monthly fee is great, too!
Anyone know of an Olympic lifting friendly gym?? Or just a lifting friendly gym in general in Wuxi?

There's a gym called "American Fitness", at Xishi Road, New District, clean and not so many people as others, recommend by my friend. I'm also a member of this gym, but I'm in it's Nanchang District Branch. Hope this would help for you.
Dani M. replied:
Steve Hwa, is that not the American Fitness at Rui Chang Go Ji on Xishi Lu? If so, it's the same one David P. Simone was talking about. I've not been there myself, just connecting the dots....
Steve H. replied:
Dani Marais Yes! That's the place what I said, and same as David P. Simone that's the gym recommend by others. Not so many people when you doing gym, good equipment and service.
James C. replied:
Most of the people I know that go to the gym go to Just Gym in downtown.

Did anyone who went to Cranston east remember Mr. Walsh or Miss Johnson (gym) or Mr, Foster machine shop?????
Ruth S. replied:
I remember battle ship Johnson we had for gym. I remember swing and sway. My mother cleaned her home. I remember I passed out in her class. She said poor dear! Her father is very I'll. No wonder she fainted! Those were the days. I had Mr Walsh for world history. He died at a young age from M.S. So sad!
Virginia B. replied:
Had Miss Johnson for Gym, she retired in 1965 when I graduated. My Mother had her the first year she taught.
