Insurance companies are always going to try to lowball. They only want to collect money, not pay it out. I was the victim of a hit and run by a drunk driver awhile back, and a got a lawyer for that one. Since that I call him any time someone hits me. It’s not about suing anyone, it’s about keeping the insurance co from ripping me off.

I used a company named autoloss.com last year, though their website seems to be down now. Honestly, you can use Google and do the work yourself. It's mostly just knowing the basics of the law and then finding comparable vehicles nearby (using cars.com and CarGurus.com). Basically you find comparable cars with no accidents and some with accidents to figure out the price difference.

I used Jonathan Dempsey and he assisted me in getting a better amount... probably still not what the vehicle value was depreciated to but we did our best. Overall it was worth it since they super lowballed me initially and then ended up stepping up when I brought him in! https://dempseyappraisal.weebly.com/store/p9/Desk_Review.html

I used Diminished Value of Georgia in February and would 100% recommend. They didn’t even have to come out and look at the car, I just sent some documents over and they dealt with the insurance company. USAA offered me about $600 for $4 k worth of damage, Diminished Value of GA came back asking for $3 k, we settled around $1800. I had to pay them $375 total for their services but obviously worth it in the end. My car was only 3 months old when it got hit.

What’s the year of the vehicle? Will be difficult to get diminished value if the vehicle is more than a few years old.

I use an Allstate Agent in Biloxi, our USAA premiums got sooooo high after Katrina. He underwrites through Northlight Specialty Group so they provide wind and hail, storm, fire, etc. all in one policy for much less than other companies we looked at. Agent is Ross Maxwell 2283969127. We have done all of our policies over email and phone, so super easy. Good luck!
Charlotte D. replied:
We had Farm Bureau and they dropped us after Katrina. We had no major claim either. Thought they were not doing residental any more . State Farm is we have now. Or Southgroup..disounts for car and home.

Marietta D. replied:
Alex I told dad you might call him. 985 373 1233. Whatever his homeowners is it was the absolute best for Katrina . He writes homeowners or his office does, they are right across from your office. I'm in Canada at the moment but ill text you when I get back. You know bob sigerson will tell it to you straight.
Lori T. replied:
I would suggest using a broker like Dan Burghardt (there are many others) and let them shop for a company with an A rating and best quote. We were dropped by Allstate after Katrina, went with Citizens, and are now with Fidelity but found them through the broker. One company to stay away from is Geovera. If you want more info call or message me...gained a lot of knowledge during this process.
