UK Tourist next week - need to book a private taxi from Newark Airport to Hotel and back - advice? Hi guys!
We forgot to add this option when we booked, and we can't...

You need an actual [limo](http://www.smithlimo.com/ultra%20 no%20 bkgrd%20LTR.jpg)? This isn't a UK vs. US English terminology difference, right? I've frequently seen [these guys](http://www.luxorlimo.com/airport-limo-car-service/ewr-airport) around the city, but haven't used them.
I am looking for hotel recommendations near Newark for my 80 Year old in-laws. My FIL is having surgery in downtown Newark Hi,
My FIL is having surgery at St Michaels...

Why not one of the airport hotels? Also is cost a factor? There's a nice Elements hotel in Harrison right across the river next to the PATH station.

Best Western Robert Treat can be had for like $100 and is mostly downtown and near enough to the train station. I've stayed there a couple times. The Hilton is right next to the train station, but pricier. It is in the train station, and there's an attached parking garage, so they don't even need to go outside. A whole mall of indoor shops too, though not really the boutique kind. If it's still too downtown Newark for you, I agree with /u/prayersforrain on an airport hotel.

Best of luck to your FIL.

The Robert Treat Hotel is right next to NJPAC and we have our celebrities/artists stay there or the Hilton regularly. No need to go to another city. I live 2 blocks away. Nice rooms, restaurant on premises. Not sure if their shuttle van would pick you up from the hospital at night but worth asking.

Marriott would be good, Robert Treat and Hilton are all good options for you. There's also Hotel Indigo but that's a little fancy for what you're looking for. Also, there's a Hampton Inn on Route 21.

There's a Hilton connected to Newark Penn Station by a catwalk. I've stayed there a few times; it's decent. If it's in your price range, it is simple for transit access! Parking isn't free though (if you have a car).

If they are from a small town, I'd recommend staying in West Orange as the hospital is right next to 280 and it's probably the first close town they would be comfortable with. Montclair is close-ish but with traffic on the Parkway at interchanges is brutal in any direction during rush hour. [This place](http://www.thewilshiregrandhotel.com/) seems to go for $115 a night on booking websites, is a 15 minute drive to the hospital, and is 5 minutes away from anything that your in-laws might need (like a supermarket, pharmacy, restaurants, etc.). It's also in a much more pleasant area than any airport hotels and will be a simpler drive for them than even from within parts of Newark.
