Does anyone know of a good holistic (or something of the sort) veterinarian around the Norman/OKC area? Or just simply a vet that is aware of/understands the connection...
Alison S. replied:
We take Camry to a vet in Stillwater, who uses a holistic approach you may call her and see if she can refer you to someone in the Norman or OKC area. Her name is Dr. Rebecca Coleman with All Pets Veterinary Hospital(405) 624-8622.

Yes Aeleen Thomas I would highly recommend Nita McNeill. She's in Mustang but she's worth the drive. Her number is 405-376-4556. Call me if you have any questions!!
THIS IS A QUESTION FROM LISA REGARDING HELPING PUGS LOSE WEIGHT. ANY ADVICE? I wanted to ask anybody and everybody if there is a way that anyone knows of to get some...
Trisha C. replied:
A1 Pet Emporium sells all natural healthy foods and treats for dogs and cats. We do not sell any foods with corn, wheat, soy or by products. We are very price sensitive and many times are food is less expensive than what you would find at petsmart or petco. I have 3 pugs of my own. Two that I really have to watch their weight and one I can't keep weight on! (Wish I had that problem!!). So, we can find you the best food for your pug and your budget and you don't have to worry about anything in our store being "good". Everything is. We also have a scale and will gladly keep track of your pugs progress! We have a loyalty program too! Come see us!

Definitely see Trisha at A1 Pet Emporium. We switched from Eukanuba to Taste of the Wild. We feed our pugs twice a day (1/3 cup for Lili and 1/2 cup for Duke). They lost several pounds each and have now stabilized.
Homeward O. replied:
It takes a long time to get the weight off. Slow and steady. You are right that it's not good for them. A long time ago someone told me for every extra 3 pounds on my pug, I could take a year off of their life. That really stuck with me and I started then and there watching what my pugs ate. I wanted to keep them around! I have my own opinions on weight control food but that doesn't mean my opinions are right. To me, it's like human diet food. It just makes them hungrier. Better to have smaller portions of a good, quality food. Go into A1 Pet Emporium in OKC and talked to Trisha or Brett. They have great food and can probably help you. Rinsed green beans from a can are a great low fat snack. Just be sure to rinse well to rinse off the salt. Baby carrots from a bag are good too. Some of them also like fruit like blueberries and strawberries but one of mine has a strawberry allergy so you really have to see how they react to the different foods. For anyone who doesn't know, NEVER FEED YOUR PUG GRAPES. Grapes will shut down the kidneys very quickly. They are very bad for any dog.
Homeward O. replied:
Funny Trisha Clark! I just posted about your store too.:)
Someone tell me about the flags that are posted on the cemetery website. I'm asking because my Dad was a WW ll vet. Is there something I need to do to have a flag by...
Dorothy M. replied:
Alice should know that information. All I know is that David's oldest brother (Harold Lee McWilliams killed in WWII), flag was donated by his mother (Dorothy McWilliams) and is used every Memorial Day by the Legion. Alice Heusel and/or Dorothy Bobbitt know the correct answer.

Jared A. replied:
I'm part of the Kirby and Toby transport on Saturday. I will be meeting Daniel Mercer in Bristow from Tulsa to pick them up. Maybe he can deliver this pug back to Norman after he drops of Toby and Kirby with me? The pug can stay with me until Saturday.

I am a core volunteer for pug rescue in Dallas and at my parents' house in Sand Springs. We can keep the puppy until he can get to Norman for a couple of days. My number is 972-533-6537. I do the FB page for Dallas pug rescue, run events, foster, etc. and my parents adopted from them, so I can help. I just got in town last night and that vet is 20 minutes from the house. Let me know!
