A while ago I saw a post on Kijiji for an equine dentist. They were mobile and came to your place. Does anyone happen to know who this was? I'm located in Worsley,AB....

Lesley M. replied:
Yes, Elaine is correct. It is against the law for an unlicensed person/equine dentist to administer sedation. Technically, when you administer sedation to your own horse, you are either doing so under the supervision/advice of your vet (they have prescribed and filled the prescription for you and advised you on dosing/use) or you too, are doing so illegally. The difference is that when administering meds to your own horse, you are assuming the risks involved of possible adverse reactions or complications, as well as human error. Equine dentists in BC operate completely illegally, as equine dentistry must be performed by a licensed veterinarian in good standing, and falls under "practicing veterinary medicine without a license". Some medications used may also fall under the controlled substances schedule, which opens up a whole other can o' worms which can include jail time as well as huge fines. To each their own, but know the facts and know the laws. "I didn't know" is NOT a valid defense, especially in the age of Google. https://www.cvbc.ca/cfm/index.cfm?It=103&Id=23
Lesley M. replied:
My autocorrect keeps writing CMVA but is is C-V-M-A... Canadian Veterinary Medical Association if you're planning to do some research online. (Make sure you specify BC as well, as some provincial laws vary)
Lesley M. replied:
Leah Batchelor or anyone else interested in the legal aspect of things, or who requires proof that yes, it IS against the law, I've taken the time to find and provide this for you. All the best!:-) ------------- The British Columbia Veterinary Medical Association (“BCVMA”) is a self-governing professional association which, pursuant to the Veterinarians Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 476 (the “Act”), regulates the practice of veterinary medicine in British Columbia.
Anyone know of a super gentle dentist on the north shore or west van?
Mahara A. replied:
Dr. MacIntosh but am not sure he works with adults. I like mine, Dr. Najaran (sp?).
Vera E. replied:
I really like him. They do a lot of kids, and they have a sign out in front that speaks to people who are afraid of dentists and/or pain...can't quite remember. It's Metroplex Dental Centre, and easy get-to cause it's sky train all the way! The clinic is right outside of Chapters, so if you feel like rewarding yourself afterwards, you can! I see Dr. Deljoui. The number is 604-451-1010. I have found the entire staff to be very friendly and caring! AND they are open until 9:00 most days (Sundays are a little earlier), and are open 363 days a year. Very helpful!
