Go to two jacks denim in Oakland its not in house alteration but the guy that does it for them tapers from the inseam and does chainstitch supposedly I would email them to learn more.
breerly replied:
Sam at ABFits is good. Really good. I've had her taper and hem before. Their chainstitch is super clean & tight. Note this is in North Beach but close enough I figure. Sam: http://instagram.com/p/nJgE_MlCQ1/?modal=true Tell her Grayson sent you and they'll give you a good deal I imagine.
vivanse replied:
If you make your way by North Beach in SF, I've heard that AB Fits does a good job (Gustin sources their tailoring if I recall correctly) and they specialize in denim.
cracklynuts replied:
I had my Gustins and Unbrandeds hemmed at [LA Tailor Shop] (http://www.yelp.com/biz/la-tailor-shop-san-leandro) in San Leandro a while back. I'm not sure how they'll be with the tapering, but they seemed pretty competent and honest when I visited.

I've used Kim's Sewing Co. for everything from my wedding dress to altering the hems of pants. She is fast, very reasonably priced and friendly. My only complaint would be that she only accepts cash, but as long as you know you can be prepared. 4451 W. Hillsborough Ave. Tampa FL 33614 813-874-1270
Can someone recommend a tailor in town? Or nearby?

Tina at A-Z Cleaners is great. She is thoughtful and honest. I brought in a dress to be altered and after studying the dress on me, told me I could just wear a belt and it would be fine. She tailored the matching jacket instead. I appreciated her expertise. http://www.yelp.com/biz/az-alteration-and-cleaners-oakland-2

That's likely to be a pricey job no matter where you go - and you don't wanna go cheap. I've had that done (though not locally) and can attest to the idea that you get what you pay for. I've always had good tailoring work done at Oxford Tailoring on Telegraph@60 th. Call first, ask for Randy and ask him if he can do the job.
