Was in an accident, rear-ended pretty hard, looking for any advice here and referral I was rear ended in Gwinnett this morning, hard enough to I'm sure total my truck...

You should seek medical attention as you do not know the extent of your injures. Whether you do it before or after contacting a lawyer is up to you but do not wait. I hope you are insured and that the party that collided with you is as well. You are going to be even more pained tomorrow and stiff as well. May need to notify work you will likely not be in tomorrow, your call.

You can go to an urgent care clinic, doesn't have to be an ER. Much cheaper if you have to pay yourself and get reimbursed later and probably a shorter wait. You might not need a lawyer if your insurance is willing to work with you. Mine jerked me around and tried to claim my injury was pre-existing, and after I got sick of spending all my free time arguing with them I hired Nick Schnyder and had a good experience. His website kinda sucks but he was very nice and got my claims paid for. http://schnyderlawfirm.com/

Even if you don't think of yourself as a lawyer up type person, set that aside and get a lawyer. The secondary costs of an accident like that add up quickly. My wife was in the same situation as you and, for the first time, we actually got a lawyer. It was an eye opener. They took care of all the communications with insurance, paid off the doctor bills and sent us a check for the remainder. The payout was fair, not enormous but very close to the secondary costs we incurred after our car was totaled.

Call **your** insurance company and ask them about how to seek treatment and what documents you'll need to get/keep. You don't need to call a lawyer to get your medical expenses paid, but you do want to make sure that everything done is recorded correctly.

Prepare for financial hell if you choose the wrong doctor. Once you tell them that you were in an accident, all they see are $$$. Hopefully you have a primary care doc. If so, go see that doctor. Try to get in today. Do NOT go to a chiropractor, unless, like I said, you want to end up in financial hell.

Should have gone to the ER by any means possible, it shows you were seriously injured! Just to be okay and check yourself for damage! the longer you delay going to the hospital the less the claim for money will be!
Seek medical attention right away. Keep copies of any and all paperwork (medical records, bills, etc) you receive over the course of doing so. File a claim with your own insurance company; you may need to pay your deductible up front, but your insurance company will subrogate on your behalf to reach a settlement with the at-fault driver's insurance company up to the driver's coverage limit that should cover damages to your car as well as medical bills ("pain and suffering"), as well as reimburse your deductible. This is assuming you have collision and not just basic coverage.

Get to a regular doctor or an urgent care. Don't start with a chiropractor.
I was rear ended pretty badly about 2 years ago (spun around in traffic on 85, it was a blast!) and spent about 6 months in PT dealing with quite a lot of pain in my back and neck. Took me 2 days to get to a doctor because I didn't think being a little sore was a big deal but a little sore quickly turned into extreme pain that made living normal life an absolute nightmare.
I wasn't the biggest fan of my lawyer but I'm not sure I would have been able to handle all the medical billing and negotiating stuff they did. If you get some recommendations, don't just talk to one and be done. But really, get to the doctor.
Sorry you're having to deal with this. It's definitely not a fun situation and I hope it all gets better quickly.

I got hit head on by a driver from out of state who was mistakenly driving in the wrong lane (thanks Dekalb) and I initially didn’t go to the hospital but over the next couple of hours I started to really feel the shock wear off and realized I had gotten hurt. I ended up being convinced to contact a law firm who handled my medical treatment and I am so so glad I did. FWIW the other driver was given a ticket and found at fault, and the law firm was a personal injury one so they didn’t handle the car damage - that was done by insurance directly. It’s not too late. I went with Beau Pirkle at Van Sant Law (beau@vansantlaw.com)

First, you need to go to urgent care or your primary care physician as soon as possible to access your injuries and keep things from getting worse.
Second, you need to contact the insurance of the person that hit you and open a claim. This notifies them of an accident and starts their investigation. Alert them to any medical injuries and treatment sought. Alert them to the state of your car. Ask them about rental reimbursement for your vehicle. They may have guidelines for treatment and compensation so you're more likely to get reimbursed for claims if you know what those are.
You will have to pay for your medical treatment out of pocket. Keep track of all of your expenses related to the accident, all of your time dealing with medical treatment and car repair/replacement, and lost wages or time off from work. If the other person's insurance accepts your claim then they will reimburse you for these things. Don't make outrageous claims or expect to get extra money for your trouble. That being said, if you spend 10 hours car shopping then you can legitimately be compensated for your time.
Don't go to a chiropractor, they aren't a physician.
Don't go to an attorney unless the insurance denies your claims or refuses to pay for legitimate claims.
Don't threaten to go to an attorney. Do or do not hire an attorney. Threatening will just throw a wrench in the claims process.

I just went through this process. Contact The Goldman Firm. I just finished working with them recently. I got a decent settlement that covered physical therapy, drugs, doctor appointments etc, along with his pay and a bit for me for lost wages/pain/suffering.

When I was rear ended a couple of years ago I didn’t go immediately since I wanted someone else to drive me. I didn’t have any problems with the other insurance paying all the medical bills, I didn’t even use a lawyer I just went through their insurance to get them paid. I will also tell you most urgent care places are not going to see you for a car accident. You will have to go to the ER. Personally I recommend Northside Forsyth on that side of town but I don’t know much about the hospitals over there now. Good luck!

\>I don't want to go to the ER and end up with this other person's insurance giving me grief because I should have done something else. This is exactly what you should do, actually. ASAP. I think you are supposed to be seen within 12\-24 hours, but I'm not a lawyer. \>I'm not the kind of person to jump to lawyers and whatever There's a very legitimate difference between being Lucky from King of the Hill and living off of legal settlements and just wanting your medical bills paid. Don't view this as an abuse of the system, it's exactly what the system is for.

Seek medical attention immediately from a medical professional. you are not a doctor and you do not know the extent of an injury. Any car accident that causes pain is serious. Do you have "Medical Payments" with your car insurance? This is a lower deductiable health coverage from your car insurance then your health insurance typically.
This is an edge case. My best friend was rear ended. He has had back surgery previously, so he went to the hospital as a precaution. They found a problem in his vertebrae that had been there for what the guessed was 4 months without him knowing. Diagnosed him with non hodgkin's lymphoma and started chemo treatments immediately for 2+ years. Moral of the story is go see a doctor. You have car insurance, use it.
Paul Taylor in martinsburg! He got my charges dropped down to 2 misdemeanor instead of 10!!! He cost some money tho! There is a man that works for him now too an he is just as good
