Dr James Harris at Mayfair Vet Clinic, Sandy Bay Hobart Tas. 6224 4244. James is a wonderful vet with a lifetime's experience treating animals in the US and now Tassie. He has a no-nonsense, respectful and loving attitude towards all animals but has special knowledge in rabbits and birds. He owns several rabbits as well as other species. I just hope he NEVER retires!!!

I take my buns to Reservoir Vet Clinic, 226 Spring St. Reservoir, Phone 9471 0155. I found Charlie Bunny as a stray and had him neutered and vaccinated there, unfortunately he had a bad reaction to the the skin glue (after being neutered) which the vet had never seen happen before!! Dr Raj Wicks really looked after him though and did lots of post-op checks. Poor Charlie was then back at the vet for x-rays and still has a big fat tumour in his back leg (most likely cancer). Over the past two years Raj has done x-rays for Charlie, a bone biopsy and always does post-ops to make sure he's OK. All the vet nurses are really, really lovely and Dr Andrea Montesano, BVSc is another great vet there, who also has her own angora bunny.

Rabbit Run are in Olinda which is a few hours away from Shepparton. There is a 24 hour vet clinic in Shepparton. Not sure if they see many rabbits though http://www.vetfind.com.au/shepparton-veterinary-clinic-shepparton/
Radical R. replied:
You could probably also ring a good vet to get advice over the phone and get them to fax or email the Shepparton Vet with any guidance as many vets do not know much or what they are looking at with bunnies. I'd recommend Melbourne Rabbit Clinic if they provide advice over the phone. -Clare

Kylie, There is the Melbourne Rabbit Clinic in Ferntree Gully, opposite mcDonalds in Burwood Hwy. her aggression is due to fear in the way she was kept. This should settle once you release her from her cage and get her desexed. She will learn to trust you and you can encourage the bond with food treats. We get a lot of bitey bunnies and they settle quickly once they trust you and are no longer afraid in their environment. Give us a call on 9751 1229 and we can talk further about what to do, or come up and visit us for a chat. - Judi

Hi Judi:) Angus & Dolly are very well thanks and are now back in melbourne with me in Templestowe. They very much enjoyed Bairnsdale and were well cared for at the Vet there in Main Street. Angus didn't go there I dont think- but dolly went there twice. Once for routine vaccine and also becuase she got very sick. They were very good- they gave me fluids, needles, syringes and gave me adequate instructions on how to hydrate her but basically it was hoping for the best after that. I also fed her the critical care paste which I had luckily gotten hold of in melbourne and taken with me. But they were really great- we didn't think she was going to make it but with some TLC and Angus love she pulled through and to this day I dont have no idea why she got sick. But she's been fine ever since:) Main Street Vet Clinic Bairnsdale: Office Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6pm Saturday 9am to 12 noon. Consulting hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 12 noon and 2pm to 5.45pm Saturday 9am to 12 noon. Phone 03 51526666 for an appointment. Outside of the above hours there is a 24 hour emergency service. Phone 51526666 for contact details of the veterinary surgeon on duty. Hope this helps:) Hope you and the bunnies up at Olinda at present have a great Christmas. Hopefully Santa will bless them with with new forever homes in the new year:) Love Mel xxx
