Pet shelter donations What are your thoughts on the various pet shelters in the area? I won a grant at work to donate a chunk of money and I'd love for it to help some...

Animal Services in Thurston County is a great shelter...close to no kill. When I have gone in to donate food, the employees are awesome and they really care about the pups and cats. CFA(Concern for Animals) is good, but they do have a lot of restrictions on who can get help from them. I have had several people who were low income hoping CFA would help, but they wouldn't. It surprised me, but check into their rules for donations to others before you donate. They(CFA) receive a ton of money from corporations also. Feline Friends in Shelton is very good also.

You can call vet clinics to get ideas. My spouse works for one and they work with local state agency to get animals spayed and neutered for a low cost so they can be adopted. I figure that’s a good place to start since they are already actively trying to get animals homes.

I really like Concern for Animals. They do direct support for pet owners. http://www.concernforanimals.org/

I know adopt-a-pet shelton does a LOT of good work.

https://feline-friends.net/. Is also pretty good

[Misunderstood Mutts](https://www.misunderstoodmutts.org/) is another good local rescue. They only focus on rescuing local dogs in need, whereas many others ship them in from California or elsewhere.

Canopy cat rescue would also be good.

I believe 'The Kitty Clinic' in Lacey could use help with defraying costs of care for low income and older adult pet owners. They are reputable and definitely part of our community. Edit: Spell correct snafu

I second the Concern For Animals suggestion, and can I just say that I am impressed that this was your choice for the grant? WTG.
