All, I'm looking for a new veterinarian, preferably near downtown Oly. Anyone?
Chris R. replied:
I've gone to Tumwater Veterinary Hospital for years, which recently moved south on Little Rock Road just past the first traffic circle after Walmart/ Home Depot http://tumwaterveterinary.com/mobile/index.php
Joanne L. replied:
I'm looking, too. Thanks for asking, Lisa . I've gone to Tumwater Vets but since they moved, it's just too far to drive.
Valerie T. replied:
Hawks Prairie Vet is absoli
Valerie T. replied:
Sorry is aboslutely worth the drive- Doc Jo she is awesome!
Walker A. replied:
Lisa, my daughter used to work at TLC. the doctor there, Greg Millar, is wonderful with pets, doesn't over test (and thus, run up bills), and his pricing is super fair.
Cecilia M. replied:

Michele R. replied:
We like Hawks Prairie vet hospital, but have been South Bay vet and Steamboat animal hospital. They're all sister clinics and all are fantastic. Well worth the drive.
Carol R. replied:
South Bay vet for Macy
Colleen N. replied:
We used a naturopathic vet who would come to our house. She has reciprocity with most vets in the event a medical procedure is needed. She did great things for our boxer Brandy during the latter part of her life on this earth. If you want more information, let me know. David Kettel from OYC can tell you more about her too. He gave us the referral.
Beth G. replied:
South Bay Vet...Dr. Johnson is wonderful.
Colleen N. replied:
Dr. Jennifer Preston. 360-496-3270. I'll find her website in a few minutes and hyperlink to it for you. We didn't find her services to be any more expensive than taking our 2 dogs to a conventional vet. We had used Tumwater Vet before; they were really good. But, we really came to trust Jennifer and her care for our 4-legged kids. We really miss her.
I'm looking for a veterinarian reference within a reasonable distance from Rochester/Little Rock area for my new German Shepherd puppy.
Places you suggest or would avoid?
Melissa G. replied:
Dr. Remond at Fords Prairie Animal Clinic has been our vet since we left Tumwater and moved in Rochester in '95. He is a good, common sense vet. We take in a lot of strays, even when we're broke, and he understands that we can't afford fancy things like having their teeth cleaned for $400 apiece. Some of the women in his office get a little pissy about things like that, so try to get Dr. Remond. He actually came to our home to euthanize our huge (old) dog. He's nice. We have gone to the lady at Scatter Creek when Dr. Remond can't see us, and she's nice too. http://fpanimalclinic.com/site/view/118453_OurDoctors.pml
Matthew H. replied:
Well Tino Campos, looks like I am going with the majority on this one. Though Scatter Creek is only about 1 1/2 from my house. I guess that will be my back up. http://www.fpanimalclinic.com/site/view/118451_ContactUs.pml

Dr Brett Bower at Ford's Prairie Animal Clinic, she's a friend/relative of mine and I love love love her!
The age-old question...Could anyone recommend an Oly-area veterinarian (or suggest we avoid one) for our two cats needing all kinds of services? Private messages are...
Jennifer A. replied:
Tumwater Vet on Littlerock RD....awesome!
Bridget P. replied:
Healthy Pets for me, too.
Diana S. replied:
Dr. Martin at Hawks Prairie Vet. She is a homeopathic and acupuncturist as well as a vet. All my friends at Wolf Haven take their dogs there...she is amazing with mine.
Leihla S. replied:
Love Kitty Klinic in Lacey. Hate Steamboat Island Animal Hospital!
Ronny T. replied:
Healthy Pets near Ralph's is fantastic.
Laura K. replied:
We have a veritable fleet of cats. Tumwater Veterinary Hospital has been superb for us over the past 20 years. There are several vets in the practice; all are excellent.
Kim D. replied:
Don't go to Pet Emergency Hospital on Pacific near the Co-Op behind the bridal Store . We took our Dachshund Moose in cause he was having seizures -our reg South Bay vet was booked solid . They put in a rehydration line gave him water and observed him .The seizures stopped within 15 mins ;they wanted to do about $750 worth of tests which my partner Pam (a RN and Large animal vet) said were unnecessary . We allowed a blood / urine tests -it found nothing unusual low level bacterial count in the urine ( we got anti-biotics from the S Bay Vet ) . They wouldn't let me in to see him and kept me in a exam room for an hour and announced the bill would be $250 and I should go to the lobby to pay the bill which I did . Then the vet came in announced that they had sliced his leg with a scalpel ( inch 1 1/2 long ) cutting the tape off holding the IV needle in and they were going to put 6 staples in to the incision together ! They had made me pay first ; not letting me know they had accidentally cut him ; knowing I might not pay them because of their incompetent care !
Jenni D. replied:
I love Dr. Natalie at Healthy Pets.
Thea D. replied:
Todd Hansen? Michelle Marie Peterson?
Liz T. replied:
i LOVE healthy pets animal hospital. They have awesome prices and everyone there is good, but I love Dr Natalie. She gives personal and compassionate service. When we had to put Babalu down, she helped us navigate the decision and came to our house to give him the shot. My pets have gone there for years. At least for emergent issues, you can drop off and leave your pet for the day and the doctor can work in a visit. They have Saturday hours, and they work with Steamboat Island to cover Sundays.
Cecile M. replied:
Healthy Pets has been my vet of choice, never disappointing in the 8 years I've been in Oly.
Marie P. replied:
I agree with Louise, Ronny and Liz....Healthy Pets! I loved the vet there. Always informative.
Jana W. replied:
They do have techs there...perhaps that is what happened? Your experience sounds really challenging, and worthy of further conversation with them. My experiences have been totally stellar...weekend emergencies where they have done everything possible to save me money, yet do safe care. I especially like Dr. Bergstrom (sp?). Our paths have crossed many times, and he is a jewel of a vet and human being.
Kim D. replied:
Dr Bergstrom was not there The day I was in -I don't recall the Vets (she ) name? It may be a fluke; everyone make mistakes . To error is human !
Sandy B. replied:
I have twenty years experience with Kitty Klinic in Lacey. They have cared for more than ten of my cats, including elder cat care.
Thea D. replied:
Well, I guess I asked, didn't I! It seems to be the way...each vet clinic has great stories and a few have some horror stories. Steven tell me one of the cats already got shots at Healthy Pets, and that cat hasn't complained to him about the experience, so we might just go there...if it matters that they already have his kitty records.
Need to find a GOOD vet t get our Kitty fixed...we took her mom to the one on State St and ended having to out her down after the surgery so if anyone has a good...
Bree G. replied:
You won't be sorry Amber. For as long as I have had pets in the area, Dr. Fey has been our vet... She is so amazing. Always answers all of our questions, and gives excellent suggestions. She even was able to save our 6 month old lab when he ate raw fish guts (out of a neighbors yard) and almost died!
Jennifer H. replied:
I also really like Jackson Highway Vet Clinic at Mary's Corner
Susan T. replied:
Rolling Hills Veterinary Clinic in Winlock is wonderful. Lindsey Pollock is a wonderful vet and very good with cats!:)
Karen W. replied:
Jackson Hwy vet at Mary's corner is who we use. They're awesome!:D

So I gotta take Mr. Danger in for the great neutering/check up. He's been acting a little strange recently, weepy and whiny. Anyone have any affordable vet/clinic...
Amanda O. replied:
Yep low cost spay neuter in lacey is great! We've taken lots of animals there. For a regular vet the Deschutes Animal clinic has been our go to for all Bens surgery stuff, they are amazing and right across the street from work next to the pho place wherever you take him just be sure to look up the providers credential history first
