I don't understand why people shop around when it comes to driver training. You want to become a responsible driver, then go with the best and don't look back. Manual's are becoming more rare and although, it is a great skill to have, most cars do not come with it anymore, unfortunately. Think of it this way, if you want to get laser eye surgery to correct your vision, simply go to Focus Eye Centre. Don't go anywhere as they are the best, safest and most advanced in the business for the Ottawa area. Likewise, for driver education....go with the best. Learn the basics from Young Driver's and once you have your G2, then you can attend the BMW Club of Ottawa's Street Survival School, and become even a safer driver on the road. That course will only cost you $74.95 + tax.

My wife is in the exact same situation - we haven't done it yet, but in the spring we're going to call young drivers and ask their opinion. They seem to be hands down the best option (DTSM seems like they are considered #2, but really didn't meet the needs for my wife) and they offer supplementary lessons. We're just going to describe her situation and see what they suggest.

"Reputable driving instructors"? lmao If such a thing existed here, we wouldn't have so many shitty drivers

The usual recommendation if you're a young person is Young Drivers of Canada. Beyond that, I don't know much about driving schools in Ottawa beyond seeing City Driving and Jocelyn driving school around where I work.

I've heard good things about [Cops Driving Academy](http://copsdrivingacademy.com/) although I've no first-hand experience.

Unfortunately your best bet is Young Drivers and I hate saying it. They’re just so damned expensive but they truly are the best “overall”. The absolute very best in the city has no comparison. Majority of DriveTest examiners would agree that Payman the owner of Jim’s is incredible. Just to note that they aren’t miracle workers. If you can’t drive - you can’t drive.

I would recommend Paul Kincl of ABC Driving School in Westboro area. Not sure what the prices are like, but I really liked him.

Young Drivers! In class and in car training. Expensive but worth it. You’ll get a certificate and a break on your insurance. Worth every penny.
