Check out the Grownowski Center on el Camino. I see a student there for $5 a week, which may not seem great, but her work is monitored closely by a team of full fledged therapists. They've helped me immensely with anxiety and depression.

Hey - I've been there. In fact, I am actually currently a PAMF patient. I'm really sorry that you're in this position:( I wasn't aware of the psychiatrist requirement - I'm sure you've done your research, but have you called in to PAMF Psychiatry and "applied" over the phone? That's how I did it, maybe give it a shot and see where it goes? Even if they insist on you seeing a psych first, they will definitely help you find alternatives that are covered by medi-cal, as there are many in your situation. That would be my suggestion. The PAMF Psychiatry people are total sweethearts. Whatever you end up doing, I wish you love and the best of luck, fighting mental illness is rough, but you've taken a huge step by actively searching for help:)

Call Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Services1800-704-0900https://www.sccgov.org/sites/bhd/Services/CallCenter/Pages/default.aspx They will do an assessment and, if deemed necessary, send a referral. That way you don't have to deal with Medi-Cal at all. The county will take care of it and only refer you to someone who accepts medi cal. It is possible that they'll send you somewhere in Palo Alto if you need to be somewhere close to home and are a higher risk. Hope this helps and you get what you need.

If talking about it hasn't helped, dealing with issues at a subconscious level is one of the best ways I know to help people with what you're experiencing. Have a look at psh.org.au. There are a couple of therapists in the Canberra region (I am one of them). I got a lot of help through P.S.H. therapy and that's why I now do what I do. Regards Belinda Hawkins
