Backflow preventer inspection – gotta do it? My fellow Denver homeowners, for those of you that had your backflow preventers inspected in the winter by the city, does...

Denver Water advised that the State is “cracking down” pursuant to [Colorado DPHE regulation 11.39](https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/sites/default/files/CDPHE%20BPCCC%20Guidance%20Document.pdf), and that the City will soon compel homeowners to comply with the State-mandated inspection requirement pursuant to [Denver Backflow Rule 7](https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/sites/default/files/WQ-DW-Policy7BackflowPreventionAndCrossConnectionControl.pdf).

We have never had ours inspected. If it was not blown out correctly it will leak if damaged by ice.

How do we know if we have one? Wait until city tells you?

Damn I didn't know they were starting to enforce testing at private residences. I've been testing and repairing backflows for 6 years. If any of you redditors need a test let me know. I can do it for gas/beer money if need be. Send me a PM.

Did the city just promulgate some new rule about backflow prevention devices? I live in a condo, and so am sheltered from knowing about this.

CO Permit tech here... a few questions:
Did you make the repair or did a plumber?
Did you get a permit for the back flow preventer? Normally this permitted.
1. Typically if a plumber (that follows ICC) performed the repair, they normally pull a permit with the building dept of the jurisdiction. They get an inspection, then report the pass to the sewer dept.
2. If you made the repair then you probably should have got a permit. Homeowner as contractor. Then you would have the job inspected, and could then report the pass to the sewer dept.
I recently had a contractor do 12 for an apt complex. After all passed, he called me to get all the certificates of completion to send to the sewer dept.
In any event, if it has anything to do with insurance. Get a permit.

Why would the city care? It's your property. They're not going to be worried about your private residence.
Need a plumber for our water pressure issues (and tankless water heater) thought I was finally getting somewhere - but they referred us to the company we currently use! ...

We recommend a guy name Dwayne who owns his own business. Very reasonable & he even came out on Super Bowl Sunday when we had a leak in the basement. Worth just a phone call to talk to him. 303-570-5651 Good luck!

Thanks all! I remember Vickie Basile Elgin about your horrendous experience with Done! Still makes me mad what they charged you for toilet flappers!! Hope First Choice can fix our issue... Something so easy appears to be hard!
