Jessica Keleshianhttp://www.gooddogtrainer.net/ she trains dogs for Guide Dog of American and knows Labs very well because of it. She comes to San Marino area and has a group training as well in Pasadena. My dog took her training. My back yard was used for Williams Sonoma catalogue many years ago but my shepherds destroyed it and there was no more grass. Currently I have artificia grass at yard.

Diana Suttle I also recommend Jenina Schutter from Smart Paws Training in case Jessica isn't available:-)

The places that have been recommended to me by rescue colleagues are...

I specifically am looking for a praise based, without treats obedience, preferably with hand signals as well as voice commands. My first dog is super obedience and agility trained with hand signals and it's very nice to be able to get control of your dog from across the park.

Depends where you live, but there is a club in Pasadena called [pasanita obedience club](http://www.pasanita.com/). They have different levels of training, I have enrolled in all their classes, from puppy to advanced obedience, for three different dogs. They do a great job. They meet once a week for an hour, the cost is around $90 for 10 weeks of class. They are there to train you to train the dog. This is a group training and not one-on-one. They meet at the rose bowl.
