I am a nail tech and work at Faces Plus in Wayne... Your nails should be getting harder over time from using Shellac, without any sensitivity at all. I've have clients using this product for a few years without any issues. It's all in the taking off & prep process....the natural nail should be barely buffed in between applications.

I am a licensed Beautician, I know sanitation and the law. The State Salon Inspectors in NJ are so pared down that they only check on shops if there is a problem complaint, therefore unsanitary conditions and unlicensed operators are common. Never shave your legs just before a pedicure and if they have recirculating bowls don't let them turn it on, they have filters and if the filters are dirty.... Also, look at the licenses on the wall, your operator should have her photo on one, and check the ages and dates on them too. All implements and that includes files of all kinds, must be sitting in the blue solution at least for fifteen minutes before they use them on you. All surfaces that they work on need to have a disposable cover (towel, paper towel) covering it and it would be nice if the operator washed their hands or wore gloves to work in you. Also, it is nice to have an operator that is fluent in your language, so you know they understand you. Good luck, I do my own, have fear of infections.
