I can recommend Andrew Johnston (https://www.mybuilder.com/profile/view/andrewjohnson) who built over our garage and joined it to the house for us. Excellent work.

I'm looking for suggestions for "builders work clothes"? Would supermarket clothing be wise and if so which supermarket has the best value for money clothes? Where would...

Don't skimp out on boots. Rest of it can be cheap and cheerful from anywhere you like but a good pair of boots is a must. You'll go through hundreds of pairs if you cheap out on them.

Sports Direct used to have fairly decent cheap work gear. But cheap fabrics are going to wear out very quickly, that's why the branded stuff is expensive.

Toolstation does cheap clothing. Cheap boots don't last long and they aren't particularly comfy but it's not a bad idea of o buy cheap while you figure what you need. Trousers depend on what you are actually doing, flappy pockets are good for many things but if it's just labouring they will get in the way. Jackets are much of a muchness

Wickes' kit is quite good and decent price - [https://www.wickes.co.uk/Products/Tools+Workwear/Workwear/c/1000367](https://www.wickes.co.uk/Products/Tools+Workwear/Workwear/c/1000367)

I like dewalt apprentice boots around £45 from screwfix. Don't skrimp on boots, pass that it really doesn't matter that much but I prefer getting work gear from cotton traders. Do get it from a outlet store if you want it cheap.

Army surplus gear is pretty tough and cheap. Army surplus shops usually do work gear as well. A decent pair of socks and set of insoles make heavy boots more comfortable. Check for any requirements like hi viz of a certain colour before you buy it.

As others have said. As long as you’ve got decent boots (and socks), the rest of it isn’t much of a difference. I get my gear from tool station or screwfix but sometimes Aldi do workwear in their specials. Scruffs or Portwest stuff is ok without spending a fortune, but the sizing can be a bit variable so you might need to try them on and return them for a different size. Oh, and get a few decent pairs of gloves, especially as the weather is turning shitty. I’ve always got a pair (and a spare pair) of general work gloves, waterproof gloves, thermal lined, waterproof thermal and gauntlets in the van. But I guess maybe it depends what you’re doing.

No idea on supermarkets but have you could maybe look at Arco and Screwfix gear.
Anyone recommend someone to replace a couple of roof ridge tiles that have come off my house this morning? I’m a builder myself but with current work loads I will...
