When you have no hope, there is one vet in the country that gives you hope. She is a holistic vet that saved my cats life. The only vet I would go too if one of my fur babies came terminally ill. She is known nation wide, has tons of you tube videos, and writes for the huffington post. BEST VET OUT THERE! She gives you hope when there is no hope. Dr Karen Becker815-929-9393 Boubonnais, IL

My favorite author loves her vet in Buffalo Grove, IL (treated her dog for cancer). Her name is Jen Lancaster. You can find her on facebook or her website. Her vet might have a good recommendation in your area
Kelly G. replied:
I would definitely try a holistic vet, but if you really want to travel for a great oncologist, the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in San Diego, CA is AMAZING. They're linked in with the UC Davis vet hospital and are definitely on the cutting edge of companion animal medicine.

Michigan State Vetrinary School and UC Davis Vet school in northern Cali are the most premier in the US and both have done wonders for two dogs of ours! Highly Reccomend!
Nicole M. replied:
The NC State Vet School hospital here in Raleigh is supposed to be cutting edge; not sure whether oncology is one of their specialties but I bet that if you contacted them they could make recommendations. Good luck to you and your sweet girl!

You can also try calling over to East End Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center at (631) 369-4513 to see if they have any. On the weekends they are also at the Bellport Animal Hospital located on the Sunrise Highway Service Road in East Patchogue 24/7 from Friday night to Monday morning, which is close to you.

Dr. Manaco is a very good vet who specializes in herpetology and avian medicine. They are in Plainview about 1-2 miles west of the 135 on Old Country Rd. [Website](http://www.oldcountryanimalclinic.com/) Edit:Spelling

I take my ferret to Catherine Grey in Oakdale: [website](http://www.vcahospitals.com/oakdale). We have been happy with her service, but I don't know about her expertise with rabbits. I think, from my limited experience finding a vet that not only took our ferret, but had a good amount of knowledge about them, that "exotic" pets are going to cost more no matter where you go. Edit: The site does mention that they take rabbits, but the link doesn't do anything when you click it.

I used to have turtles many years ago and used the vet in Shirley on Montauk Highway. I can't think of the name of it but, they knew how to care for turtles at least.

I go to Old Country Animal Clinic for both my bearded dragon and python and they have always been very reasonably priced, and fairly informative. They are good people though, even offering housing for pets during the recent storm.
Just wanted to say that I highly recommend Dr. Monaco from the Old Country Animal Clinic to anyone on Long Island looking for an avian vet. I was so happy with our visit...
Any other rescuers having issues getting vet references? And, getting a lot of flack when asking for them? Do you ever adopt out animals without them if they've had pets...
