It is, its at the top of the road that leads down to The Warren, have a look at the webcam on www.dawlishwarreninfo.co.uk, we always go to the warren, lovely place, loads to do and places to eat.

lol superb, well if you do, as you approach Starcross, just after the golf course, take a right across the small harbour and that road will take you through the Dawlish Warren so you can have a look at the place, then just up the hill right to the main road, you will see Ladys mile..if you book there..but peppermint is closer,lol. Peppermint park is actually on the warren road opposite the camp we always go to, The Welcome"..no campers tho,lol.

There is a book entitled Stalag Wisconsin that looks at the Wisconsin POW program. The Sheboygan Historical Society has some information on Camp Evelyn. No one in my family ever talked about it. My father served in the army during WWII so I would have thought he would have had something to say. Then again, he was in Germany when the Germans were here. I'm thinking that the POW program was kept quiet so as not to get the local population upset. There were references that some prisoners worked at canneries as cheap labor. They were needed because all of the able bodied men were fighting overseas. Makes sense. And I wonder if Plymouth's old Stokely Van Camp cannery was around during the 1940's.
