Can anyone recommend a adolescent (or not) psychiatrist? My son has severe ADHD and we need to find someone new to prescribe meds. Thanks.
Nancy S. replied:
Dr. Dwight Smith in plymouth may be able to help. He works out of Bayview Associates.
Suzanne R. replied:
Dr Trieberg, Psychology Associates North Plymouth.
Kimberly O. replied:
We saw Dr. Roe but with different results, not a fan. We now see Dr. Dingmann at Physiology Associates in Wareham.
Karen P. replied:
Don't waste your time with Dr. Ikeda. He is nice but my daughter has similar diagnoses as your son and he was of no help.
Amy R. replied:
We did see Dr. Ikeda for a while as well as one of the therapists. I did not get the results I was hoping for with Ikeda, and felt he was a little odd, and my son was just a number. FCP is great, and we currently have an IHT through FCP.
Corey B. replied:
We also see Dr Roe and have been very happy. My child was the type Angela described- impulsive to the point of being a danger to himself when not on meds (ie running across a busy street because he saw something interesting on the other side of the roa d, running away in stores and hiding, etc.) Living with him unmedicated was like living with a volcano always on the verge of erupting without warning. The first few meds we tried didn't work great. Luckily nowadays we have multiple options unlike what was available when we were all kids. Eventually we found the right one and my kid can function in a way he never was able to. Are meds the answer to every problem or for every kid? No. Are there parents/doctors that dole them out to kids that might not need them? Absolutely. For some kids though medication gives them a childhood where they can thrive intellectually and socially in a way that may not have been possible otherwise.
Amy R. replied:
Thank you, Corey Jutz Billings . It is not easy to share these truths about our children, but it is our reality and I appreciate your comment. My sons impulsiveness has caused multiple scary instances, and him being unmedicated, as he basically is now, is like living in the middle of a tornado. All I have ever wanted is for him to thrive and find happiness, but that is not the case at the moment. I am going to see if I can get an appointment with Dr. Roe. Again, the comments and advise is so appreciated!!!
Kimberly O. replied:
Michelle McKenzie Muscato I felt that although he certainly has the credentials, he was very cold. No personality whatsoever. My son needs more from his doctor than just the clinical side. I felt like Dr. Roe was almost just looking at him as a brain, not as a little boy. Nothing at all against him as a doctor. So we chose this route. He sees Dr. Dingmann and Dr. Mogilnicki, both in the same practice. He has been seeing them for years with great results.
Tina M. replied:
Of course my phone is glitching & I can't read the comments... If you ever need a psychologist, there's an awesome one in Marstons Mills. He helped my daughter tremendously in a few short months. I think he does a radio show too. We can't say enough nice things about him. http://m.therapists.psychologytoday.com/.../Michael...

Tina M. replied:
I'll tell u I wish I had seen doctors instead of psychiatrists. I am now dependent on psych meds that I May not have even needed. All my symptoms including ADD May in fact be migraine activity. I'm working on figuring it all out.
Kelly H. replied:
I am looking as well and got a hold of Dr. Triebergs office and they are not accepting any new patients this was on Thursday of last week.If you find someone please post as I am having such a hard time. My son also had Dr Ikeda and we felt like a number as well.
Tracy S. replied:
I can tell you who I would NOT see! We used Anne Bateman from Duxbury Counseling in Plymouth and disappointed doesn't even touch how I felt about the way she treated my daughter! We are starting with someone new on Monday. Crossing my fingers but if not at least I have this thread to come back to for new ideas!

We really likes Dr. Treiberg at Psychology Assoc in Plymouth ma
Amy R. replied:
Derik Berry, its really not about drugging my child. It IS about helping him. ADHD is a brain disorder and it has affected so many area's of his life in mostly negative ways which brought me to the place that medications are needed for him to function at school and socially.
Does anyone know of any good psychiatrists in or near Plymouth that take mass health?! Need a new one asap!!

April D. replied:
Who did you see at Duxbury Counseling?! Same thing happened to us!
April D. replied:
Bayview, which is connected with S.S. Mental Health, has outreach therapists that come to the house. We/re starting next week with one. My 15 yr old doesn't do well in office.
Recommendations on a really good/long term counselor/psychiatrist? Ive had lots of bad experiences where the counselors are only interns, got better offers, etc. and...
