Anyone got any recommendations for trail shoes from their experience? Am looking at Brooks PureGrits, as I like Brooks, but other suggestions welcome. Thanks.

I cannot really help Neil as I just pick up what is on special from www.sportsshoes.com which means I currently have a cheapish pair of Asiscs trail shoes which have been absolutely fine. What I would say is over the years I've found trail shoes to be a tight fit so I'd suggest going at least half a size up from your road shoes.

I've got some Inov8 trailroc that have been good value from sportshoes.com and would recommend them .They seem to be a wider fitting although you might need to take note of the heel drop (on Inov8 s specifically) which can be quite a bit less than road shoes and can take a bit of adjusting to. My experience says look for some waterproofing and then be realistic about the surfaces you're going to run on/how much grip you really need. Walsh PBs or Roclites will be great in the mud but not much fun anywhere else.
