Where do intellectuals gather around here to discuss philosophy, literature, spirituality, politics... anything really. Is there a certain bar of coffee shop? Where do I...

hey katerina, yes slaughter's a good place to go to. my husband,(a dr.) and i(a landscape designer) go there and hang from time to time. we always have great conversations there. meeting great people. i can say of a different class than the high tide, blue goose, or moon dog's. we all have a different crowd we like. there's no liquor but local brews and we enjoy that. Scott Kirvan is an awesome guy to talk to. hopefully we can meet you there. it is tough to find a place. we've been out here for 6 yrs and finally found our place.

Katerina Routh - maybe we should get some idea of what exactly it is that you consider intellectual discourse. Are you something like Mensa or what? Social ills/values, political? It's intriguing - but what happened with the meet you had?
Jesse M. replied:
Hey Katerina, I was just tipped off to this thread. Wanted you an others here to know I just started (like a month ago) a bi-monthly group meetup for political, progressive discussion and action. All topics are welcome in the purview of one hour of loc al discussion, and one hour of national. Philosophical principles come up to defend of decry one line of discussion or another all the time. The other thing I'm working on is a debate group, meeting twice a month as well (I should hope) to be held at Dragonfly Cinema, and eventually opened up for public attendance! I'm working with the owner before making an announcement, but it's in the works and near a dozen people are interested. As to the former, I found the bar scene waaaaay too bloody loud for real conversation, let alone having to reign in an moderate a heated discussion. Coffee Oasis kicks ass. It's a non-prof that has a lot of resources going to helping out homeless and disadvantaged folks. Anyhow, get back to me! I may well show up tomorrow at your thing if there's enough room!

Whiskey Gulch is currently renovating/expanding so it might also be a good meeting place in the future. Also if this becomes a regular thing it would be worth making a page for it so that we can work out times and locations easily.
Anyone know of any coffee shops/stands that have espresso milkshakes? Had one at a place in Buckley a couple weeks ago and I've been craving another one ever since!...

Hey PO peeps,
Where is the best place to buy sugar free flavors for coffee, not creamer, straight flavor like the coffee shops have, a place that has a variety!!
TIA...
Robert M. replied:
Cash and Carry for sure. I highly recommend Monin as they use cane sugar and not high fructose corn syrup in their product line.Costs a bit more per bottle but its worth it. If you need anything they may not have contact our staff at https://www.facebook.com/309988532352115 Whiskey Gulch CoffeePub and they can order you in something from our suppliers as Cash and Carry does not always stock the more unusual flavors. Have fun!

Fred Meyer has a few sugar free flavors. It looks like I'm going to have to check out Cash and Carry though!
