Kevin, sorry I thought I sent this to you already.... go to this website... amtamassage.org. This is our professional organization... we have two. This one is way ahead of the other and has been around for many many years... almost as long as I have been doing massage. Once you go to their page, at the top left hand corner on the menu, is "find a therapist". Once there, you can enter your zip code... this will bring up everyone in that area in alphabetical order. You can then click on their name and pull up their info. I suggest to people to go through the list and see which one resonates with them. These folks are all professionally licensed. I prefer one who is board certified.... much higher credentials. Not to say that someone who isn't, isn't any good... but I prefer a person who really knows the body, rather than someone who just gives a nice rub (esp. so for someone who is dealing with let's say disc issues...accidents, whiplash and the like). A simple phone call to someone who you think might be a good fit, helps you to get a better sense of who they are and how they work. On this page, Kevin, it will show you what they practice, how long they have been a therapist, where they practice and when they are available. This is a valuable tool for anyone to know, because if you are travelling within the U.S., you can use this web site! You will not find people like the zumba instructor in our organization... We are professional! Although I will say that we have to rescind a couple of licenses over the years. There is NO tolerance of "funny" business.. That word really doesn't fit... I am at a loss for what to call it....UNPROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR?

www.facebook.com/AmandaJCarlsonLMTAmanda Carlson, 699-6790, she's downstairs at Salon Paragon, 486 Congress Street, Portland. I only had a seated massage at a work event but I'm pretty critical and she was great, esp. only having 15 minutes to work, ...I don't usually take a business card unless they're exceptional. She was.
Recommendations of a massage therapist who does sliding scale? I want someone who will DIG into me. None of that light touching stuff.
